API CH-4 Oils
API service category CH-4 describes oils formulated for use in high-speed,
four-stroke 1998-2001 model year diesel engines as well as for previous
model years. These oils are especially effective in engines designed to meet
1998 exhaust emission standards, but can also be used effectively in older
engine designs.
CH-4 oils offer a number of performance benefits compared with previous
categories such as CG-4 and CF-4:
1. Superior wear control, high-temperature stability and soot handling
properties;
2.Better protection against non-ferrous corrosion, oxidative and insoluble
thickening, foaming and viscosity loss due to shear;
3.Greater potential for extending oil drain intervals.
