Founded in 1798, the University of Louisville (also known as U of L) is a state supported public research university located in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. As the first city-owned public university in the United States, the University is mandated by the Kentucky General Assembly to be a "Preeminent Metropolitan Research University, with a current enrolment of more than 21,000 students from over 50 U.S. states and 116 countries around the world. Students at University of Louisville are presented a wide range of study options - more than 170 fields in 11 schools and colleges.
Among many other accolades, University of Louisville boasts a College of Business that is ranked among the Top 50 business schools among public, state universities, placing it in the top 7 percent of all U.S. business schools. The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) has also named the college its 2010 National Model PhD Entrepreneurship Program award winner. Many of its programs are ranked among the world's best by leading international publications such as US News & World Report, BusinessWeek, The Princeton Review, Forbes Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, CEO magazine, Fortune Small Business Magazine and the Women 3.0 Magazine.
