    1. You Can Lead a Politician to Water, But You Cant Make Him Think: Ten Commandments for Texas Politics by Kinky Friedman "I Aspired To Inspire Before I Expired." Kinky Friedman And Kinky Said Unto the People: Why the Hell Not?So the good people of Texas werent able to get the Kinkster into the Governors Mansion in 2006. It was a solid race, and he fought the good fight. Getting on the ballot as an independent -- a feat that had not been achieved in over a century -- was a victory in itself. And with ideas like slots for tots (legalized gambling to pay for education), the five Mexican generals plan (bribes to enforce border protection), and a firm stand against the wussification of the state, he would have done a helluva job.If that 2006 election was any indication -- and it was -- the political landscape in both Texas and the country at large needs a significant overhaul. The hucksters, the wealthy, and the twofaced rule; there is no room for Truth, and the little guys are quickly
    2. forgotten in all the muck. But Kinky, (briefly) down yet certainly not out, is still looking out for his fellow Americans, and he has much wisdom to impart. In this hilarious, thought-provoking manifesto, Kinky lays forth his ten commandments for improving the state of Texas and politics everywhere, and for restoring order, logic, decency, and above all a sense of humor back to this country. Its classic Kinky in a brand new way. And he might just have a point. Personal Review: You Can Lead a Politician to Water, But You Cant Make Him Think: Ten Commandments for Texas Politics by Kinky Friedman Of all the books that The Kinkster" has written;I think this is his best to date.Even if you know what Kinky has been up to over the years;you're going to be amazed at the seriousness behind this man who has been described as "The new Mark Twain". Government in the US and Canada, even more so,has been hyjacked by the Political parties and it is no longer "Government,of the People,by the People and for the People" as intended in a Democracy;but has become Government,of the Politicians,by the Politicians and for the Politicians. All one has to do is to look around in their community and ask themselves,"Are the people ,chosen by the Parties, the best, and most honest people around to represent us and if not,why aren't they the ones we are voting for?" Kinky lays it all out in terms that any thinking person can,and will agree with;but the career politicians are so entrenched, and the barriers that are in place to keep it that way;have made it almost impossible for any candidate who wants to buck the "system",and work in the interests of the the People ,versus themselves,is kept from even attempting to seek office.Once in a while, someone tries, but they are ruthlessly attacked by all the establishment, including the Media;and usually defeated. As you read this book you will be convinced that Friedman was defeated, not because of his ideas ,but by something much greater...APATHY. The book is filled with one-liners by Kinky himself, that cut through the "wussification" and tells it like it is. Seldom do we see anyone deliver straight talk the way Kinky is able to;possibly with the exception of Mark Twain, and certainly no Politician around today. Then again, how can they talk straight, when they are not being straight with the people or even themselves? An awful lot of people would concur with Kinky's points;but sadly not enough of them took the trouble to vote for him.Sadly, the loss is theirs;and once again, the People get the government they deserve. The vote results were: Votes % Rick Perry Republican 1,716,803 39.03 Chris Bell Democrat 1,310,353 29.79 Carole Straybone Independent 797,517 18.13 Kinky Friedman Independent 549,151 12.43
    3. Its obvious the Parties got their people out,but those who are disenchanted with politics didnt bother ;and believe it or not ,71% of the eligible voters didn't bother to vote. In Kinky's own words; "It was Kinky vs Apathy" I could quote many great lines from the book;but here are only a couple."Politics is the only field in which the more experience you have, the worse you get."And a new campaign slogan offered from his friend Willie Nelson; "Criticize me all you want, but don't circumcise me anymore." po For More 5 Star Customer Reviews and Lowest Price: You Can Lead a Politician to Water, But You Cant Make Him Think: Ten Commandments for Texas Politics by Kinky Friedman 5 Star Customer Reviews and Lowest Price!
