Personal Review: Win the World (Without Losing Your Soul) by
Dave Durand
I am a big fan of the work of Dave Durand, and this has continued with his
release of this latest book, Win the World Without Losing Your Soul.
Dave's precepts are straightforward, well thought out, manageable, and
just simply make sense. He sets out to define what he means by "Winning
the World", giving the reader the immediate sense that this book goes
beyond today's typical self help types of books to something that will be
more concrete and long lasting in one's life.
At the conclusion of each chapter, "Winning Questions" help the reader to
pause, reflect upon the concepts of the chapter, and apply them to your
own life. Dave's comments on embracing long term gratification, the
importance of true resolve (moving beyond a "positive attitude") and the
virtue of humility really hit home with me. Additionally, I loved the chapter
on the traits of a good follower.
Dave Durand's work has helped many to beyond lives of mediocrity
towards maximizing one's full potential. This book will help you to quantify
your capacity to achieve great things in your life -- not simply financially,
but more importantly in how you can look around yourself and serve others
more effectively. With the help of this book, I'm learning what being a
"winner" is really all about and challenging myself to move beyond the
comfort of my own safety zone. Dave's book is colored by his faith
commitments, but is not overtly religious in tone and would be an excellent
choice for anyone looking to make lasting change for the better in your life.
