Personal Review: Where Fairies Dance by Michael Hague
What a delightful way to get Shakespeare, Walter de la Mare, and other
classic authors into very young children!
Renowned fantasy illustrator Michael Hague has selected some very
dance-y read-aloud verse from his Book of Fairy Poetry for this splendid
new collection. In thirteen enchanting poems that fairly sing off the page,
fairies flit, dance gaily, pluck stars for fans, and hang pearls from cowslips'
ears, though "they've never a penny to spend." In "Fairy Shoes" by
Annette Wynn: "The little shoes of fairies are/So light and soft and
small/That though a million pass you by/You would not hear at all."
As always, award-winning illustrator Hague's paintings glitter gorgeously,
as fairies wing their way through page after fabulous page. This timeless
book is sure to bewitch folk both wee and eld. It would be a perfect pick for
story time, with full-page illustrations that could be enjoyed by all. WHERE
FAIRIES DANCE would be a beautiful addition to any school, library or
personal collection.
And it's so much more fun than spinach!
