This book is very helpful for someone trying to evaluate whether their
spouse may have AS, as a prelude to seeking a professional evaluation. It
provides enough varying descriptions of how AS can manifest such that
you can get a good sense as to whether this is a possible diagnosis to
pursue. As I'm guessing with other readers, my spouse has been
diagnosed with a variety of mental health conditions, none of which
perfectly fit his behavior, and I was looking for some insight into whether
AS is something to consider. This book helped me understand that this
very well may be his true problem, and now I have the tough task of finding
a qualified professional local to me. (Unfortunately, most AS experts are
unfamiliar with AS in adults, and even less so in very high-functioning,
intelligent adults, who succeed in compensating for their disability so well
that it's difficult to detect...though still devastating to their lives.)
Fantastic book. Breath of fresh air to read the real world examples of
behavior that I'm all too familiar with, and hear it named for what it is.
