Personal Review: Phantom by Susan Kay
I have never read "The Phantom of the Opera" by Gaston LeRoux. I have
never heard of Susan Kay, prior to my book discussion's to read her book
"Phantom". I hope this will not be the last Susan Kay book I have the
pleasure to read.
Kay explains the birth and formative years of the person we will eventually
know as The Phantom of the Opera. The first chapter is voiced by Erik's
mother. The second by Erik. The voice of each chapter is announced on
a front piece. I do not recall ever having such intense feelings for or about
so many characters in one book. My emotions ran the gamut from disgust

to compassion to joy to sorrow. Now that I have finished the book, I feel I
have separated from a dear friend. Fortunately I can visit anytime I like.
