Out of the Blue (Red Dress Ink (Numbered Paperback)) by Isabel Wolff - Presentation Transcript

    1. Out of the Blue (Red Dress Ink (Numbered Paperback)) by Isabel Wolff Great Book For Women Faith has arranged a surprise party at a West London restaurant to celebrate fifteen years of marriage to her publisher husband Peter. They have a lot to be thankful for - including two teenage children and the knowledge that, at thirty-five, theyve hammered out an enduring partnership that, at this age, many of their contemporaries are only just themselves embarking upon. But something is niggling at Faith. A casual, barbed comment by her bitchy magazine editor friend Lily makes her wonder whether her world is as wonderful as it seems on the surface. Peter has been behaving slightly oddly recently - but is this purely because of stress at work? Is Faith really too smug and trusting? As the kernel of unease swells and begins to burgeon inside her, Faith finds herself on a quest that leads to a shake-up of everything she holds dear - but which, in the end, enables her to reforge her life.
    2. Personal Review: Out of the Blue (Red Dress Ink (Numbered Paperback)) by Isabel Wolff I had been recommended Isabel Wolff in the past but this was my first tryout with one of her novels and I can only say that Out of the Blue kept me thoroughly entertained this past weekend. I would characterise it this way: it's well-plotted, page-turning and with a good deal of quirky humor - particularly with the family's beloved ex-stray dog that likes to watch food programmes - and it's also touching. Weather girl Faith Martin's *happy* marriage has hit the rocks and is about to he smashed to pieces, but can the fragments be glued together again? There are some great characters - Faith herself not so much - but her uber-bitch best friend Lily, queen of the glossy magazinesm, and Faith's two oddball teenage kids. Katie, aged only 12 or so, constantly psychoanalyzes everyone - with startlingly accurate results - and the son, Matt, is a maths prodigy who Faith's mom is secretly leading astry by encouraging him to play on Wall Street. If you like novels about single women in the city looking for love, and downing too many margaritas, this book is probably not for you, but if you are looking for a well-written engaging read whcih deals in some complex human situations in a humorous and insightful way, then I'd recommend it without hesitation.
