From the National Wildlife Federation® comes the most up-to-date, all-
photographic field guide to North American birds. Birders will find it
indispensable: this single, portable volume features more than 750
species, along with more than 2,000 stunning images by leading nature
photographers showing birds in their natural habitats. Captions highlight
important field marks, and comprehensive species accounts describe
habitats, behavior, flight, migration, songs, and plumages. Other features
include: more than 600 maps showing bird distribution in every season;
strategies for watching and identifying birds; a complete species index plus
a quick-flip index; a glossary of terms; and a checklist of birds. The guide’s
unique waterproof cover makes it especially valuable for use in the field.
Personal Review: National Wildlife Federation Field Guide to
Birds of North America by Edward S. Brinkley
I've been using the National Wildlife Federation Field Guide to Birds of
North America for over a year now. I am not a die-hard bird watcher, but I
wanted to research all the birds that I take pictures of. I wondered if this
would be too technical, or too deep. It's been perfect for me - and it gets
used at least once a week to research a new type of bird that I've seen and
photographed, across North America (more specifically, within the USA in
my case).
The cover is wearing great, no issues, and the binding is holding firm.
Only a few times have I had to enlist a bird-watcher friend of mine to help
me with an odd one or two.
