Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten (Miss Bindergarten Books) by Joseph Slate - Presentation Transcript

    1. Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten (Miss Bindergarten Books) by Joseph Slate A New Miss Bindergarten Adventure..... Miss Bindergarten sure knows how to show her kindergarten class a good time! Today is field trip day and everyones favorite canine educator has quite a few alphabetically enhanced adventures up her sleeve. Adams dads a chaperone. Brendas mom is, too. Christopher says, Hey, dont leave yet--a stone hopped in my shoe. With her lively, fidgety classroom full of alligators, beavers, and cats, Miss Bindergarten first sets out to visit a bakery, where her eager charges learn how to cut out cookies and squirt pink icing on scrumptious chocolate cake. From there, the class goes to the fire station, the post office, the library, and finally, to the park for a picnic. Along the way, each child, in alphabetical name order, discovers something new: Jessie learns Stop, Drop, and Roll. Quentin checks the scale. Extra-perceptive readers will notice that the shapes Miss Bindergarten posts on her easel at the beginning of the day continue to show up throughout the field trip: circular cookies, rectangular letters,
    2. triangular sails in the library book illustrations, and a star on a ball at the park. Joseph Slate and Ashley Wolff are the creators of three other popular Miss Bindergarten titles: Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten, Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten, and Miss Bindergarten Stays Home from Kindergarten. Wolffs bouncy illustrations perfectly capture the very squirmy, active nature of kindergartners--more than one kindergarten teacher will recognize a few hippos, monkeys, and tigers from his or her own classroom. (Ages 4 to 7) --Emilie Coulter Personal Review: Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten (Miss Bindergarten Books) by Joseph Slate Join Miss Bindergarten as she and her wonderful alphabetically named animal class are off visiting community helpers on their first field trip. But before you turn that first page, take a look at all the different shapes on Miss Bindergarten's easel and see if you can find them as you read the book. First the class stops at the bakery where children learn to cut cookies and ice cakes. Then it's on to the fire station where they try on gear, ring the bell, learn to stop drop and roll and watch Miss Bindergarten slide down the fire pole. At the post office, the class looks at stamps and finds out where a letter goes after you mail it and at the library, they see what's new and catch up on story hour. Last but not least, they're off to the park for a snack before heading back to school..... Ashley Wolff and Joseph Slate have authored a wonderful interactive story your children will want to read again and again. Their delightful, humorous, rhyming text is complemented by bright, bold, expressive artwork that's full of busy detail and youngsters will enjoy finding all the shapes (circular cookies, square cake, rectangular envelope...) and letters in the pictures. Perfect for youngsters 3-6, Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip With Kindergarten is a charmer and a terrific new addition to this series.
