Leaf Man (Ala Notable Childrens
Books. Younger Readers (Awards))
by Lois Ehlert
Great Book!
Fall has come, the wind is gusting, and Leaf Man is on the move. Is he
drifting east, over the marsh and ducks and geese? Or is he heading west,
above the orchards, prairie meadows, and spotted cows? No ones quite
sure, but this much is certain: A Leaf Mans got to go where the wind blows.
With illustrations made from actual fall leaves and die-cut pages on every
spread that reveal gorgeous landscape vistas, here is a playful, whimsical,
and evocative book that celebrates the natural world and the rich
imaginative life of children.
Includes an authors note and leaf-identifying labels.
Personal Review: Leaf Man (Ala Notable Childrens Books.
Younger Readers (Awards)) by Lois Ehlert
I teach a special education class of PK - 4 grade students. This book was
a wonderful tool to connect the season with reading. We went on a leaf
walk and collected leaves and then we made leaf people. These pictures
were proudly displayed in our hallway. The illustrations are great and the
story is wonderful. It reminds me of when I was much younger and my
sister and I would look at clouds to see what shapes and figures we saw.
