David kahn's essential text is excellent, simple and tremendously useful.
He has managed, in a short and easy to use text, to sum up the essentials
of krav maga and the basics of most martial arts, both eastern and western
in origin. His text would serve equally well for any of the following:
- those looking for an overview of self defense and close combat, with little
or no background
-those studying the first few belts of krav maga, who want a text to go with
their classes
-those who would like to teach themselves krav maga who are not under
the umbrella of a teacher yet
-those studying MMA, karate, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc who are
looking for a text to use for fundamentals of striking and combatives.
I have been studying krav maga and muay thai for almost a year now, and
find the text very helpful in understanding and mastering the ideas and
techniques taught in the class. I can say with some conviction that even
