Exploring the controversial subject and attraction of interracial
relationships, this is a balanced analysis of the historical, cultural, and
societal mores that influence these unions. Factors such as slavery and
the perception of white women as forbidden fruit, the preponderance of
women with lighter complexions in segments airing on BET and MTV, and
the self-image and agenda of the African American male are explored in
the context of how these issues may inadvertently influence the choice of a
spouse from outside of the African American race. Also examined are the
reasons why a greater number of African American women marry within
their race and the subtle and overt implications these marriages have on
their immediate circle and the community at large.
Personal Review: It Aint All Good: Why Black Men Should Not
Date White Women by John Johnson

The author John Johnson makes a valid arguement as to why black men
should not date White Women. I think he should have titled his book using
"Should Not Date Non-Black Women" instead of white though, because
maybe the white women wouldn't have taken offence. I don't know how
interracial couples can argue with the facts. The numbers DO NOT LIE!!!
They need to accept the fact that they are an anomaly.In the U.S., "more
than 98% of married couples are same race unions." "The overwhelming
majority of White Women don't date or marry Black men." The author's
arguement is strong because he was in an interracial relationship. Johnson
makes a good point when he notes that a black man wants to date a white
woman in an attempt to "garner social attention or status." The individuals
in an interracial relationship can't deny that racial stereotypes are what
attracted them to their partner. Johnson said that families often reject their
family member who has chosen to date outside their race. He wrote "to be
forced to choose between your family and the person you love is a no-win
situation." Black men who date white women are seen as sell-outs. Black
men who are attracted to white women don't even realize that they are
brainwashed by society. The media and pop culture believes that the only
beautiful women are those with Eurocentric features. ALL WOMEN ARE
BEAUTIFUL!!! SPANISH AND BLACK WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!
