This is a classic. I would say that it is a must-read graphic design
philosophy book. Many contemporary designers cringe at the word "grid" --
however, knowing it's there and understanding it and its history and
effectiveness in communication design, can lead to incredible creative
breakthroughs. Of course, knowing the "rules" makes breaking them more
fun.
