Second Edition by U.S. Catholic
Church
Good Edition
Four centuries in the making, a monumental undertaking and a magnificent
achievement, the first definitive Catholic Catechism since the Council of
Trent in 1566 details the doctrine, dogma, and the basic tenets of the
Church.
From the Trade Paperback edition.
Personal Review: Catechism of the Catholic Church: Second
Edition by U.S. Catholic Church
This is a MUST MUST MUST for every Catholic to own, as well as
ANYONE who is interested in knowing about the Catholic faith. The
Catechism goes through all the major Catholic beliefs, citing bible verses,
Church Fathers, Church councils, and papal writings. The footnotes are
absolutely saturated in scripture. If you are trying to see what the Catholic
Church teaches about a particular topic, or want to find out where a certain
teaching comes from, chances are it is in here. Even many of the more
popular codes from canon law are mentioned in the Catechism e.g.
abortion incurs automatic excommunication. I am constantly quoting from
the Catechism to show people what Catholics believe about a particular
topic.
