Personal Review: Birth Order Book, The: Why You Are the Way
You Are by Dr. Kevin Leman
I bought this book because I have 4 siblings and I have never been able to
quite figure out any of them. I had always wondered why we were all so
different and why some got along better with each other and our parents
better. This book has explained so many things to me, from my oldest
sibling to youngest, I feel a lot less frustrated with them now knowing what
they and I are both like. Dr. Leman did write this book with a bit of silliness
and humor but I appreciated the way it lightened the mood when reading
about my place in the birth order (which was kind of a sad thing to face)
Overall, this book reads very easily, and is written honestly. He does write
more from his counseling experiences than just plain facts and studies,
which some have said they have a problem with. But if you are reading it
as someone who wants to learn, it isn't too big of a deal.
ps. Be ready for some step-on-your-toes moments, some parts left me
saying "that's the only reason I act(ed) that way??"
