(Barefoot Books) by Richard Walker
My Son Loves It...What More Do You Want?
This swashbuckling collection of pirate tales is brimful with drama and
adventure on the high seas. Young children will meet fierce characters
such as the captain in the German tale, Kobold and the Pirates; others, like
young Mochimitsu in the Japanese tale, are friendly and funny. They will
also meet the infamous Grace OMalley, one of Irelands most feared
pirates. Now available in hardcover with CD!
Personal Review: Barefoot Book of Pirates HC w CD (Barefoot
Books) by Richard Walker
As a home that tries to find alternate entertainment to t.v. (although we are
not complete abstainers by any means) I have found recorded story books
an appreciated addition to our libraries. As a fan of other Barefoot Books, I
was intrigued by this selection for my 5 year old son, lover of
swashbuckling and scallywags. I have not been disappointed, nor has he.
This is currently his favorite, beating out DK's Robinhood (a favorite for
many moons now) for the last month or so. He enjoys listening while
playing, looking at other books or when he has to clean his room.
Sometimes he just sits and fully engages as well. It has provided me also
with some time needed with a no napping preschooler-- and that can't be
bad.
These versions with the recorded stories are especially nice as they are
lengthy, they typically run 30 to 50 minutes of stories so that you don't
have to keep running back to restart, etc. While my son enjoys looking at
the book itself, it is the CD that has made this part of his Treasure.
