Personal Review: Baby 411, 4th Edition: Clear Answers & Smart
Advice For Your Babys First Year by Ari Brown
I was very close to purchasing "The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears as it was
recommended by my favorite prenatal book "Fearless Pregnancy."
However, after reading the reviews on Amazon and realizing that it pushes
attachment parenting, I knew it was not the book for me. Thanks to a good
friend's recommendation I registered for "Baby 411" and received it as a
gift. This book is not daunting at all and is extremely easy to navigate; it
has pretty much answered all of my urgent questions about what was
going on with my newborn and probably saved my pediatrician a lot of
calls. I am not one who wants to read a million textbooks about sleep,
nutrition, and development and thought I would approach parenting the
old-fashioned way (i.e. listening to my maternal instincts). This book has
allowed me to get answers quickly and efficiently while still providing me
the opportunity to figure out many things on my own (one of the rewards of
parenting!) and what works for me, my husband, and our baby.
Additionally, this book is not judgmental so to speak, and in the nutrition
chapter discusses feeding from both a breast-feeding and formula
perspective. P.S. For anyone who is obsessed with the whole concept of
sleep, Baby 411 breaks down all the big textbooks out there, allocating one
page to each and giving the core information you need to execute a "sleep
plan".
