Teacher Turns Meaningful Journal Into A Successful Book - Presentation Transcript

    1. AuthorHouse – www.authorhouse.com HU U Teacher Turns Meaningful Journal into a Successful Book High school math teacher and girls’ basketball coach, Scott Kreiger, didn’t want to forget a single moment of Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana’s journey to the 2008 girls’ basketball state championship. “We enjoyed some special moments, and I didn’t want to risk forgetting so many of the details that meant so much to us,” Kreiger said. He jotted down important memories in a journal which he originally intended for himself and his team. Seeing all the work that he’d put into the journal, his wife and mom suggested that he publish his writing as a book. “I did not fancy myself an author, but I decided to give it a shot,” Kreiger said. He began organizing the journal into book form and enlisted the assistance of some friends he worked with for editing and revisions. Once his manuscript for Four Sunny Saturdays: The story of the Canterbury Lady Cavaliers' 2008 State Championship season was ready, he was unsure about what next step was right for his book. “Because of the nature of my topic, my book was not going to have a broad appeal. In other words, I was not going to try to peddle it to a large publishing house because there simply would not be enough interest. In order to actually get the manuscript into print, I would need to find an alternative. Self-publication was the answer, and AuthorHouse was presented as my best option,” Kreiger said. After contracting with AuthorHouse, Kreiger had all the help he needed to produce a quality published book. From production to marketing, AuthorHouse representatives were ready to assist him in reaching his goals. “Trina Lee, the AuthorHouse Production Manager, became my guide as the book began to enter its final stages. Trina answered all my questions on everything. We discussed the physical size of the book, cover design, page layouts, font, arrangement of photos, turnaround time from submission to completion, and many other details. She had an answer every time,” Kreiger said. Kreiger’s Marketing and Book Consultants continued to aid him with his book after it was published, offering guidance on what book selling and marketing activities to pursue. “[AuthorHouse] was very responsive to the way I wanted to handle the rollout and worked with me to make it happen,” Kreiger said. When the book went live, Kreiger threw a book signing party. Local media caught wind of the event and did a few stories on Kreiger and his book which were later placed online.
    2. AuthorHouse placed a number of Kreiger’s links on the Authors in the News page. Word of mouth about Four Sunny Saturdays grew and so did sales. “I was surprised a number of times by the people who actually wanted to purchase and read my book. You don’t know what might spark someone’s interest in your project. Don’t limit your marketing,” Kreiger said. Despite all the media attention and sales, Kreiger is most happy to have been able to commemorate the Canterbury High School girls’ basketball team’s success. Now, they’ll forever have a quality reminder of their championship moments. “My project was successful, but without AuthorHouse, it would have been little more than a personal journal. They took my inspiration and made it real,” Kreiger said. To learn more about how AuthorHouse turn your book idea into a success story, visit http://www.authorhouse.com HU U
