A Gift Guide - a little help for Christmas Presentation Transcript

  • 1. A Gift Guide
  • 2.
    • As if buying presents for your nearest and dearest isn’t hard enough, there is also the question of what to get everybody else, the people you feel more obliged to buy for out of duty rather than desire. Here’s our etiquette based gift guide which should mean you can spend more time on choosing presents for your girlfriend.

    • The Mother in Law
    • For your mother in law, you can get away with something fairly small, as long as it appears that you have put some thought into her wellbeing. A Plain Black Frill Umbrella will show that you are worried about her getting wet, and the elegant frill design is pretty without being too over the top for a matriarch .
    • Similarly, Austin Reed provides a variety of accessories, such as scarves, which show that you’re worried about her getting cold, that you are really just a caring son-in-law, and it is dainty enough that she might finally give you her approval.

    • The Father in law
    • It’s likely that your Father in law already has everything he needs, so you only need bring him a little bit of luxury to show that you respect his position as your wife’s father, and are thankful to him for welcoming you into the family. Wallets, ties, little accessories are a little nod to the fact that you are thanking him for paying your wife’s way all these years. With a little accessory you can never go wrong!

    • Your Girlfriend
    • If you have only been dating a woman for a very short time, then Christmas can be a minefield. How big should you go, and does size even matter? No matter how few times you have seen her, if you like her and intend to carry on dating her in the New Year, then you need to get her something, even just a trinket. These Ivory Faux Pearl cufflinks , £25, are a reference to your intentions without being so overwhelming that you’ll scare her off entirely.

    • What about the host?
    • You must take some gift for the host of a Christmas party, as it is rude to turn up empty handed. Although a bottle of wine is customary it doesn’t show much thought – but if you add a little something else you’ll be invited back again and again. Even something as small as this Pack of 3 Blue Handkerchiefs , £9 will show how grateful you is to be a guest, and how well-mannered you are.

    • They might even earn you a kiss under the mistletoe...
    • So dress to impress! Check out these mens shirts and mens suits .
