How the project came together (1)How the project idea emergedIDEA: Innovation activity which significantly improves environmental protection as it substantially reduces pollution caused by industrial wastesStarting point: an SME (Cuoio-Depur) wants to invest in the first application and market uptake of its eco-innovative product which has the following features:− Reduces the environmental impacts of the leather sector processes and contributes to the optimal (re-)use of waste matter resources into the agriculture sector- pre-commercial phase of an innovative product (organic fertilizer)- 20 years of research not project at research stage with- experience in the field/previous projects (?) high technology risks- not project with a very high financial risk• Objectives of Cuoio-Depur: Cuoio- Depur:− First application and market uptake of the eco-innovative product− To finally exploit the solution with replication potentialities− To build up long-term marketing strategy (raising awareness/avoid prejudices on the product)− Commercialisation and long-term profitHow the project came together (2) Search for opportunities in existing European Programmes Priorities/activities/scope did not coincide Participation to the CIP Eco-Innovation Pilot Call Information Day in Brussels on May 2008 Eco-Innovation Programme suitable to co-finance the activities and objectives of the Cuoio-Depur’s project Application
