“Teaching ‘Like a Girl’: Student Reflection of the Benefits and Challenges of Feminist Pedagogy”
This essay discusses how mixed-mode courses use technologies, such as iClickers and learning
management systems, to effectively or ineffectively engage students. Based on student surveys and
personal experience, this essay relates the success of a specific mixed-mode course on women’s
literature to guidelines laid out by feminist pedagogical methods, such as student-centered learning.
INTERNSHIPS & MENTORSHIPS
Instructional Design Intern at UCF Center for Distributed Learning 2016
Participated in faculty consultations using Instructional Design pedagogical
methods. Served as a student consultant in a semester long seminar to certify
faculty to teach online, guiding them to learn and use engaging and effective tools
including apps, discussion posts, and video. Collaborated with the Center for
Distributed Learning to write and propose grants for faculty seminars on topics
such as adaptive learning and open educational resources. Consulted with the
graphics and UI/UX teams on learning management systems, such as Canvas.
Shadowed and edited with the Video@UCF team.
2. Research and Mentoring Program Scholar (RAMP) 2013 – 2015
Collaborated with a professor and Instructional Designer to conduct research on
feminist pedagogy and web-based pedagogical tools. Results were based on
student perception of instruction surveys and student testimonials. The findings
were presented and published UCF’s Undergraduate Research Journal.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Organizational Committee for the 2017 UCF English Symposium 2016
Generated a symposium on the topic of Agency/Agents. Wrote a “Call for Papers” to promote the
symposium and receive submissions. Planned, scheduled, and budgeted the symposium – including
securing a location and meals for participants.

Momentos: Latin@ Identity in Home Movies and Memories – Essay & Film
Certificate of Excellence Award
Research project that involved the conversion of Super 8 home movies into a silent film that focused on
memoir and Latin@ identity. Compiled information on the methods and benefits of preserving this
media. Wrote an essay on the role of Latina mother in shaping identity and the creative ways this
identity is represented through creative fiction of Cecelia Rodriguez-Milanés, the daughter of the
filmmaker.
