A Trip to India- Cataract Removal Camp Aditi Verma August 5th– August 22nd, 2010
Cataract Surgery - Process Cut an incision in the eye Remove the lens from the eye Insert a new lens Rest the eye for a week
Cataract Surgery – NDA The Natural Disaster Aid sponsored 20 cataract surgeries, each costing $25. This includes cost of plastic lens, disposables, medicine and surgical center. Eye surgeon does not charge for surgery as he is a Rotarian. Most of the people who are getting eye surgery come from underprivileged section of our society. Some of them are 60 – 75 years old. They are laborers, washer men, barbers, vegetable vendors, maid servant and have other menial positions in society - all of which require eyes to maintain their livelihood.
ThankYou! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Rotary Club Pataliputra for organizing this camp and making the entire process extremely informational and successful for me. I would also like to thank the Rotary Club of Tustin and Irvine for introducing me to RYLA and supporting my decision to travel internationally.
