Intro to story writing

  1. 1. INTRO TO STORYWRITINGBY: Hector Tejada
  2. 2. OBJECTIVE You will learn exactly what you should be brainstorming about. You will learn how to organize your thoughts.Lesson 1
  3. 3. REQUIREMENTS Microsoft Word or Notepad A somewhat creative mindLesson 1
  4. 4. STEP-BY-STEP Launch Notepad or Microsoft word. Once you have launchedeither of those applications, try creating four sections through the useof symbols.Lesson 1
  5. 5. STEP-BY-STEP After you have created these sections you will name the firstsection villain. The second section will be called characters. The thirdsection will be called plot. The final section will be called setting.Lesson 1
  6. 6. STEP-BY-STEP Now let’s focus on the first section. We name this section Villainfor obvious reasons. It’s time to think about who is the bad guy. Inorder to have an interesting story you need to have conflict. Thinkabout who is the villain and why. What did he do or will do that is soevil? What are his motives ? These are all things you should bethinking about. Try to include a backstory but you do not have toright away.Lesson 1
  7. 7. STEP-BY-STEP Now let’s move on to the next section Characters. In this sectiontry to think about who will be the main character. Who are his or herfriends? What kind of life will this person lead. What is theirrelationship with the villain. At first you only need to worry aboutmain characters. Side characters will come naturally once you get ahandle on the story.Lesson 1
  8. 8. STEP-BY-STEP The final section is about the setting of the story. What you needto think about is when and where does this story takes place. Does ittake place on island somewhere in the medieval era or, does it takeplace in the future in the city of New York?Lesson 1
  9. 9. FINAL Now that I have shown you how to organize your thoughts andwhat you should be thinking about, go and try on your own. Yourassessment is to create four sections like I did in this lesson and createa story.Lesson 1
