INTRODUCTION• Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications.• It is developed by Open Handset Alliance led by• Google purchased the initial developer of the software, Android Inc., in 2005.• Android Distribution in 2007 was announced with the founding of Open Handset Alliance.• Google releases the Android code as open source, under the Apache license.• Android is open , free and 100% java phone.

FEATURES• Storage - SQLite, a lightweight relational database , is used for data storage purposes.• Connectivity - Android supports connectivity technologies including GSM/EDGE, IDEN, CDMA, EV-DO, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE, NFC and Wi MAX .• Messaging - SMS and MMS are available forms of messaging, including threaded text messaging.• Multiple language support• Web browser• Java support
