1. SLC exams to begin on Mar 19
The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination-2071 will start from March 19, and this time
exams will be conducted for 11 days, unlike in the past when SLC exams were held for eight
days.
Examinees from two streams — general and technical — will take the exams simultaneously.
Currently, technical education is imparted to students of 99 schools across the country. Two
streams — general and technical — in schools education are envisioned by the School Sector
Reform Plan.
Bishnu Bahadur Dware, Examination Controller, Office of the Controller of Examination, today
said a meeting of SLC Examination Board took the decision that SLC exam-2071 would start
from March 19 across the country.
Students from general stream will take exams for eight subjects with 800 full marks while those
from technical stream will sit for exams for 10 subjects with 1,000 full marks, said Dware.
According to him, examination centres for the students from technical stream will be based in the
district headquarters only. Examination centres for students from general stream can be
anywhere, he added.
According to Dware, there will be around 5,000 examinees in technical stream while the
examinees in general stream could reach up to 600,000.
Compulsory subjects in general stream are English, Nepali, Maths, Science, Social Studies,
Health, Population and Environment. Four subjects — English, Nepali, Maths and Science —
are compulsory. Optional subjects in technical stream include Farm Management, Marketing,
Building Construction, Utilisation of Electrical Energy and Crop Production.
