2. 2. A bit of Information on the iPad
The iPad is a tablet computer designed and marketed by Apple for Internet browsing, media consumption, gaming, and light content creation. Released in April 2010, it established a new class of devicesbetween smartphones and
laptops. As of May 3, 2010, Apple had sold 1 million iPads.
Since 2003, over 50,000 everyday people have interviewed family and friends through StoryCorps. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the Library of Congress. These stories are available through this app for the ipad.
ABC Phonics Animals Free Lite -Talking & Spelling Alphabet Flashcards Kids Games
6. 6. Pros & Cons
Pros:

Interface is extremely similar to the iPhone/iPod Touch. This means that most of the 50 million odd owners of one of these devices should be able to pick it up and go.
 7. 7. The App Store is the iPad’s single biggest strength. No company has a finer base of programs (or nearly as many) available to its end users. Apparently 140,000 or so of those App Store programs will be able to be loaded up right away on the upcoming iPad.
 8. 8. Large screen. In fact, its 10 inches makes it larger than most netbook screens, portable DVD players and mobile video game players
 9. 9. 10 hour battery life is pretty decent.
 10. 10. Ability to read books, newspapers and magazines in a simple format.
 11. 11. Built in speaker and microphone

Pros & Cons
Cons:

No multitasking. In fact, its Safari browser seemingly doesn’t support multiple websites being pulled up
 12. 12. No flash. Flash is a major part of the web. Without it being included, you will likely be missing a lot.
 13. 13. No removable battery. When it dies completely, so does the iPad.
 14. 14. It’s too big to easily carry in one hand. 1.5 pounds can weigh you down after an hour or so of reading.
 15. 15. No HDMI port, no camera, no built in phone
 16. 16. Screen does not use 16:9 aspect ratio (as many videos now are) resulting in a black box on each side when they are played.

My opinion
In my opinion the iPad is a good sourse for students of ESL to prepare themselfs. The iPad is not that out of reach is not that cheap but is not that expensive and there are tons of apps. That are free and others that you can easily aford. I tested the iPad and I loved it theres so much you can do with it , yes I know it has some limitations when it comes to multitasking but its still a good tool of learning.
