International Astronautical Congress IAC08 E.5.1 Space-related Art from Atlantica Mission - Dr. Sarah Jane Pell - Presentation Transcript

    1. SPACE-RELATED ART FROM 59th International Astronautical Congress 2008 >>> >>> ATLANTICA I : 90 DAY UNDERSEA HABITAT MISSION The League of New Worlds announced that on 01 Aug 2010 three aquanauts: Dennis Chamberland, Claudia Chamberland and Terrence Tysall will attempt a 90 day continuous undersea habitat mission: Atlantica I Expedition (AE I) from the custom-built Laiviathan Habitat. The objectives of the mission are bold: clean, autonomous life support; responsible collaboration, systems development, infrastructures; and education towards a “zero waste” culture. 2. SPACE-RELATED ART FROM 59th International Astronautical Congress 2008 >>> ATLANTICA II : PERMANENT UNDERSEA COLONY Results from AE I will inform the Atlantica II Expedition (EA II) mission requirements and systems to support a permanent human-undersea colony of 12 aquanauts. The select EA II crew will live and work within the sanctuary of the Challenger Station: a custom-built 1.6 ATA constant pressure facility planned to be operational by 2013. The spin off and spin in for space-related architecture and analogue data will be significant. Challenger Station Modeling/graphics by Brett W. English, Atlantica Expedition Crew.
