Roles and Responsibilities of Medical Transcriptionist:
You have to report on or before 7.00 am for Dayshift and on or before 8.30 pm
for Night shift.
Transcribing the allocated files by maintaining the set quality standards.
Maintaining the specified TAT (Turn around time).
Uploading the files for proof reading i.e. next level of processing.

OJT (2 months) – Rs 3,000
Jr. MT – Rs 7000 Salary

1. Is it mandatory to undergo Medical Transcription Training before I get into production?
Ans: Yes, it is mandatory because in order to do the job of a Medical transcriptionist,
you need to gain technical expertise which is possible only by going through Medical
Transcriptional training. Training for Medical Transcription includes American English,
Medicine, typing, computer and internet skills, etc. Training duration is for 3 months,
six days a week, followed by 2 months on the job training for practical exposure.
Training expenses are borne by the company.
2. Do I need to work in Night shift or can I choose the shift?
Ans: It is not mandatory to work in Night shift with Medtek and shift will be decided
based on mutual consent.
3. How many offs can I get if I work in Day Shift and in Night Shift?
Ans: 8 days off per month (Saturday and Sunday) for Night Shift team members
6 days off per month (All Sunday and Alternate Monday) for Day Shift team
members
4. Is there any difference in between working from home and in - house?
Ans: Only work location will differ. Rest of the policies are applicable to both types of
employees.
5. Is it mandatory to work for 9 Man hours from office/home?
Ans: It is not mandatory to work for 9 hours. Once after meeting the target/process
requirements, you can log off and it will be treated as present for the day.
6. How do I get increment/promotion?
Ans: Appraisal period is automated in Medtek and the effective period is from April –
March. Exceptional performers will get increment even in October as well. We call it
7. as IPAS (Integrated Performance Appraisal System) which automatically gives
increment and promotes employees based on the scores secured in IPAS.
7. For how many months, I will be on probation after becoming Jr. MT?
Ans: 3 months will be considered as probation period
8. Can I cope with Medical Transcription training?
Ans: Yes, as you are having medicine background, it is not tough to crack the training
9. Are there any other career options with respect to transcription apart from Medical
Transcription after few years?
Ans: Medical Transcription industry itself is an ocean but still you can even diversify
yourself in other parts of transcription industry like business transcription, legal
transcription or medical billing, other healthcare and transcription related
opportunities easily.
10. Is there any age restriction to pursue Medical Transcription career?
Ans: There is no age restriction as it is the only industry where employee need not
come to office to work and assured growth is observed.
