  • 6. Confidence is extremely important in almost every aspectof our lives, yet so many people struggle to find it. One, who is working in hospitality industry has tobe very confident while dealing with guests. He/She must be able to answer the questions thata guest may ask and while answering these questions, onemust be confident in replying to those.
  • 7. Patience is the ability to tolerate situation withoutbecoming upset. It is a valuable asset in the workplace. Aperson working in aviation or hospitality industry has tobe patient at all times. He must know how to deal with asituation with patience without hurting a guest’ssentiment.
  • 8. A person’s personalitycontributes a lot towards hiscareer growth. Particularlyin the aviation andhospitality industry, it is veryimportant that a personworking in the industryshould look attractive. Ifsomeone has an attractivepersonality then theprospect of his success ishigher.
  • 9. A person working in aviationand hospitality industry mustbe naturally warm andpleasant in his behaviour. Hemust be sure that every guestthat he deals with feelcomfortable in his presence.His warm and pleasantattitude with the guestsattracts more customers whichis beneficial for the industry.
  • 10. It is the way through which a person views himself andthe people he works with. The personal accountabilityof a person is closely tied to honesty and integrity andit is a vital element in the service industry.
  • 11. Good communication skills aresome of the most importantskills that we need to succeed inthe workplace. When wecommunicate well, then we canbe very successful in this serviceand who are poorcommunicators, they struggle todevelop their careers.
  • 12. Social etiquettes isimportant for anindividual as it teachesus the way that how tobehave with others inthe society. Etiquette isessential for aneverlasting firstimpression. The wayeveryone interacts withothers speak a lot abouttheir personality.
  • 13. It is an important characteristic inaviation and hospitality industry, It is anon-verbal communication. Everyoneshould listen someone or should talkto someone by maintaining 100 % eyecontact. Eye contact has profoundinfluence on social and professionalinteractions. It generally demonstratesthe interest of doing some importantworks. While speaking to a group, oneshould try to share their eye-contactequally.
  • 14. GROOMING Grooming is the art of self-presentation and is the sum total of a person’s appearance and his attitude. It includes body language, confidence, social and dining etiquettes, smart planning and good management. It is the process of making yourself look near beautiful, attractive and presentable. The most important fact is that your appearance influences the opinion of everyone around you.
  • 15.  1] PHYSICAL: - Physical grooming consists of your appearance which is categorized by the quality of your skin hair, hygiene and the power of dressing makeup etiquette etc. So it is the external beauty. 2] METAPHYSICAL :- Metaphysical grooming consists projecting certain attributes of one’s personality one must appear poised, elegant, confident and easy going without being casual. So it is the internal quality.
  • 16.  For personal grooming, the following techniques should be followed to maintain overall cleanliness. Skin Care. Hair Care. Nail Care. Oral care. Dressing. Accessories. Make-up. Healthy Food. Physical Fitness.
  • 17. SKIN CARE:-This is the first technique ofpersonal grooming. Everyoneshould take care of his skin. Agood and clear skin is a sign ofcleanliness. To keep the skingood and clean, one shouldmaintain proper diet andshould use suitable cream,lotion etc. by which the skinbecomes soft and healthy.
  • 18. HAIR CARE:-The next technique of personalgrooming is taking care of the hairs. Hairmust be shampooed at least once in twodays and conditioned once a week. Ahairstyle to suit your face andpersonality must be chosen. One mayuse hair gel/cream to maintain the hairsproperly and evenly.One should cut the hairs regularly in aneat and clean saloon. Properlymaintained hair increases a person’spersonality and also makes himselfattractive. Regular hair-cut also helps aperson to remain free from dandruff.
  • 19. NAIL-CARE :-The next technique ofpersonal grooming istaking care of the nails.Nail should be clipped andfiled short for men and beof medium length forwomen.
  • 20. ORAL-CARE: -The next technique ofpersonal grooming is oralcare. Teeth need brushingand flossing every morningand night, and rinsing afterevery meal. Make sure not toeat any pungent food duringoffice hours. If you do, rinseyour mouth thoroughly andeat some mouth freshner.
  • 21. Dressing : -The next technique of personalgrooming is proper dressing. Oneshould wear clean and properlyironed dresses everyday. Thedresses should be of proper sizeand length in accordance to thefigure. The most important part of aperson is his dresses whichdevelops his personality.
  • 22. ACCESSORIES : -Accessories are the wearingapparels which one shouldwear with proper dressing.Those are shoes, ties,wristwatch, handkerchiefsetc. These items are the partsof proper dressing whichincreases a person’spersonality.
  • 23. MAKE-UP :-One should maintain proper make-up which matches his personalityand dresses. A person shouldregularly shave his beard and useappropriate make-up which is idealfor his face and skin.To maintain proper skin and face,one may use different kinds ofcreams and lotions of reputedbrands which will make one’s skinand face glowing and attractive.
  • 24. HEALTHY FOODS: -For proper maintenance ofbody and mind, one shouldeat healthy foods like rice,pulse, milk, fruits, fish,chicken etc. Excess food isharmful for health. So, oneshould take balanced dietwhich should contain theproper nutrients which isessential for health.
  • 25. PHYSICAL FITNESS: -Last but not the least, to get ahealthy body and mind, oneshould do exercise regularly.Proper exercise, free hand or ina multi-gym, develops a soundphysique and a healthy mindand makes a person free fromany kind of diseases and alsomakes a person attractive.
  • 26. SKIN :- Skin is the thin layer of tissue forming the natural outer covering of the body of a person. It is the largest organ of the body. It protects us from external elements and helps to regulate body temperature.
  • 27. TYPE OF SKIN:- Skin may be categorized into thefollowing types.(i) NORMAL SKIN :- An individual having normal skin generally experiences a facial complexion that is clear in appearance with none to very little blemishes. The elasticity of the skin is tight and smooth. HOME REMEDIES FOR NORMAL SKIN: To keep the normal skin blemish free and well hydrated, one should drink a lot of water and should eat fresh vegetables and fruits. Sunscreen should be used whenever the skin is exposed to sun for prevention of premature ageing. Honey with mashed up ripe banana is a good home-made face pack. This pack should be applied over the face and should be left for 20 minutes. Then it should be removed with lukewarm water.
  • 28. (ii) DRY SKIN :- The body produces different naturaloils that keep the skin moist and soft. When theamount of oil produced by the body is reduced, theskin becomes dry. Dry skin becomes very itchy andpainful due to the absence of moisture.HOME REMEDIES OF DRY SKIN: To get rid of the dry skin, one should drinkplenty of water and should use moisturiser to fulfilthe scarcity of moisture in the skin. Curd makes for an excellent skin hydrantand its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory propertieswill help soothe dry and ithcy skin. Curd should beapplied as it is or should be mixed with some honeyand a few drops of lime. The pack should be left for10 minutes and then it should be washed-off.
  • 29. (iii) OILY SKIN :- When the skin oozes outexcess oil, it causes a shiny and wetappearance to the skin. Such type of skin istermed as “Oily skin”.HOME REMEDIES FOR OILY SKIN The person who has an oily skinshould wash it frequently to keep it clean. Inorder to remove the extra oil from one’s facialskin, one should apply the yolk of an egg onthe oily skin. Let it remain on your skin forabout 15 minutes. After that, it should bewashed-off properly with cold water. Theproperty of an egg yolk mask is that it driesout the skin, thus one can get rid and relieffrom excessive oiliness.

(iv) COMBINATION SKIN:- This is a typeof facial complexion characterized by anoily forehead, nose & chin and relativelydry cheeks.HOME REMEDIES FOR COMBINATIONSKIN This type of skin is verycommon. The skin should be cleanedtwice a day with cleansing milk or mildglycerine soap and to wipe off withcotton & rose water. One should alsouse half tea spoonful honey and one teaspoonful lime juice on his face, Thehoney will act as moisturiser.
  • 31. MY SKINMy skin is oily skin. During the summer season, I donot use any skin as the skin becomes more oily. But,during the winter, I use LAKME Peach Milk Moisturiserand L’OREAL Pearl Perfect Day cream SPF-15.However, I regularly use JOHNSON & JOHNSON’SClean & Clear face wash to wash my face. I also useLOTUS Scrubber once in a week to keep my face neatand clean.MY PRODUCTS:-C- CLEANSER.T- TONER.M- MOISTURISER.P- PROTECTION ( FROM SUN).S- SCRUBBER.
  • 32. HAIR:- Any of thenumerous fine, usuallycyndrical keratinousfilaments growing fromthe skin is commonlyknown as hair. It is mainlyfound in the mammals.TYPES OF HAIR:- Hairmay be categorized intothe following types.
  • 33. Normal Hair :- This type ofhair is most common. Thistype of hair is not too fine orcoarse. Normal hair is themost manageable hair typewith largest range of possiblestyles. Proper styling toolswith varying heats are crucialfor keeping a health-lookingshine.
  • 34. DRY HAIR :- When oil andmoisture escapes from hair, itbecomes dry and lacks theshine and soft texture. As thetissue worsens, hair becomesbrittle and dull. At some pointof time, dry hair becomesinevitable as over-processingor elevated exposure to sunand wind causes hair damage.
  • 35. OILY HAIR :- Hair whichdevelops a lank, flat,stringy or oilyappearance is oftentermed as “ Oily” or“Greasy” hair. This typeof hair is hard tocontrol, clumpstogether easily anddoes not hold a stylewell.
  • 36. HOME REMEDIES FOR HAIR:- There are some effective home-made hairpacks which should be applied on the hairs tomake it clean and healthy. Take mehendi powder and add egg, amlapowder, coffee, lemon ( if dandruff is present) andapply it on hair for an hour. One may also usepasted methi seeds overnight on hair and wash itwhen it gets dried.. Curd mixed-up with smashedbanana is also a good pack for hair.
  • 37. MY HAIRMy hair is normal hair. I wash my hair every alternateday with shampoo and conditioner. I use hair gel, too.MY PRODUCTS:SHAMPOO- SUN SILK KERATINOLOGY.CONDITIONER- SUN SILK KERATINOLOGY.HAIR-GEL- BRYLCREAM.

LO-III(b) WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO PRESENT YOURSELF AS A PROFESSIONAL IN AN INTERVIEW: It is very important to present someone as a professionalin an interview because the first impression is the “LASTIMPRESSION”. The world take someone seriously when he is wellgroomed. A properly groomed person having professionalattitude is capable of drawing the attention of everyone and thushe is always a long step ahead than the ordinary ones as regardsto his profession. A person having professional attitude alwaysdresses himself as per the occasion or requirement and not asper his desire. In a short span of time he gains a popularity withinthe industry among his superiors and colleagues and success willbe at his doorsteps.
