Goals and Objectives <ul><li>Goal 1 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Develop and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan to create global awareness of the Mission/Vision and Core Values and provide positive support for the growth and sustainability of Optimist International. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Desired Objectives </li></ul><ul><li>Support a consistent quality of promotional material by establishing a centralized Marketing Department that is fully capable of supporting International efforts. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop a recognition program for non-Optimist(s) that have achieved world-class performance. </li></ul><ul><li>Establish a celebrity spokesperson for Optimist International. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop, promote and support Club, Regional, District, and International marketing initiatives. </li></ul>July 2008

Goals and Objectives <ul><li>Goal 2 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Maximize the effective and efficient administration and operation of Optimist International </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Desired Objectives </li></ul><ul><li>The Board of Directors will prepare, in consultation with affected Districts, and implement by September 30, 2008 a plan for the consolidation of Districts, merging current Districts as required. </li></ul><ul><li>The Board of Directors will prepare and submit a proposal to the delegates of the 2007 International Convention in Montreal for the establishment and operation of Regions of Optimist International subject to realignment as necessary and determined by the Board of Directors and further provide for the election of Vice Presidents-Elect for these Regions from the Clubs in each such Region. </li></ul><ul><li>By September 30, 2007, The Board of Directors will develop and publicize differing methods and concepts for Club governance and that Clubs are encouraged to be bold, creative, and progressive in establishing Club governance. Goals and Objectives <ul><li>Goal 3 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Optimist International will grow to become a thriving, dynamic, progressive organization with members committed to the mission of providing ever-expanding service to the youth, the community and the world. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Desired Objectives </li></ul><ul><li>Increase the number of Optimist Clubs to 3,500 by September 30, 2010. </li></ul><ul><li>Increase the annual retention rate of members to 85% by September 30, 2007. </li></ul><ul><li>Increase total adult membership to 107,000 by September 30, 2010. </li></ul><ul><li>Increase the number of JOOI Clubs to 800 by September 30, 2010. </li></ul>July 2008

Goals and Objectives <ul><li>Goal 4 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Consider, design, and implement Optimist programs that will focus on realizing the vision of Optimist International in four core areas: Growth, Education, Communications, and Activities. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Desired Objectives </li></ul><ul><li>Implement an ongoing process of assessing and evaluating all International Programs and Policies for consistency with the Mission. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop and Implement a world-wide program of encouraging Optimists to actively participate in programs that will maximize the opportunity for character-development of youth and community improvement. </li></ul><ul><li>Continue and enhance a system of reports and recognition for successful new programs that are implemented by Clubs. </li></ul>July 2008

Support a consistent quality of promotional material by establishing a centralized Marketing Department that is fully capable of supporting International efforts. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Establish Optimist International centralized Marketing Department to coordinate plans for promotion and determine marketing spending based on approved budgets. </li></ul><ul><li>Optimist International will utilize the global resources of Optimists to support marketing. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide marketing methods and materials to support Clubs and Districts. Completed March 08. </li></ul><ul><li>Districts may work with Clubs to develop marketing methods. </li></ul>Goal 1: Develop and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan to create global awareness of the Mission/Vision and Core Values and provide positive support for the growth and sustainability of Optimist International.     • 10. Objective B. Develop a recognition program for non-Optimist(s) that have achieved world-class performance. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Establish an OI Marketing Committee. Completed July 07. </li></ul><ul><li>Establish an overall marketing plan for OI which would include this recognition program. </li></ul>Goal 1: Develop and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan to create global awareness of the Mission/Vision and Core Values and provide positive support for the growth and sustainability of Optimist International.     • 11. Objective C. Establish a celebrity spokesperson for Optimist International. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Establish an OI Marketing Committee. (Completed July 07.) </li></ul><ul><li>Establish an overall marketing plan for OI which would include a celebrity spokesperson. </li></ul><ul><li>Contact International Management Group (IMG) representative for many celebrities, sports stars, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>“ Bundle” our guest speaker at our International Convention with becoming a spokesperson for OI for one year. </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct an annual “Opti” Award program (similar to “Emmy”) recognizing celebrities and others who have “added value to our world through expressions of Optimism.” </li></ul>Goal 1: Develop and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan to create global awareness of the Mission/Vision and Core Values and provide positive support for the growth and sustainability of Optimist International. July 2008

Develop, promote, and support Club, District, and International marketing initiatives. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Establish a grant program to enable grassroots Club marketing participation utilizing local clubs with pre-existing plans. </li></ul><ul><li>Continue and enhance a resource library on the web of “Best Practices” marketing programs of both Clubs and Districts. </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct training on marketing. Completed July 08 and on-going. </li></ul><ul><li>Optimist International to foster planning and strategy of a youth event to draw world attention and global participation through JOOI. </li></ul><ul><li>Districts may assist Clubs in developing marketing initiatives. </li></ul>Goal 1: Develop and implement a Strategic Marketing Plan to create global awareness of the Mission/Vision and Core Values and provide positive support for the growth and sustainability of Optimist International. The Board of Directors will prepare, in consultation with affected Districts, and implement by September 30, 2008 a plan for the consolidation of Districts, merging current Districts in a compatible way as required. <ul><li>Strategies : </li></ul><ul><li>Rough Plan developed by International Governance Committee by March 2007 Board meeting. </li></ul><ul><li>The Governance committee will submit a rough draft plan to the Board of Directors prior to the March Board meeting. Completed March 2007 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal 2: Maximize the effective and efficient administration and operation of Optimist International. </li></ul></ul>July 2008

The Board of Directors will prepare and submit a proposal to the delegates of the 2007 International Convention in Montreal for the establishment and operation of permanent Regions of Optimist International subject to realignment as necessary and determined by the Board of Directors and further provide for the election of Vice Presidents-Elect for these Permanent Regions from the Clubs in each such permanent Region. <ul><li>Strategies : </li></ul><ul><li>International Governance Committee to propose a Bylaws amendment by March 2007 Board meeting. (Refer to Club Proposal proposed at 2006 convention) Completed March 07. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal 2: Maximize the effective and efficient administration and operation of Optimist International. </li></ul></ul>July 2008

The Board of Directors will develop and publicize differing methods and concepts for Club governance and that Clubs are encouraged to be bold, creative, and progressive in establishing Club governance, by September 30, 2007. Increase the number of Optimist Clubs to 3,500 by September 30, 2010. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Embark on a rigorous program to build new Clubs within assigned Districts and task the Builders accordingly. </li></ul><ul><li>Engage the services of fulltime paid Professional Builders who will serve the Districts in addition to the assigned Certified Builders. </li></ul><ul><li>Create a Charter Officer Program and one staff position to support it. Completed May 07. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal 3: Optimist International will grow to become a thriving, dynamic, progressive organization with members committed to the mission of providing ever-expanding service to the youth, the community and the world. </li></ul></ul>July 2008

Increase the annual retention rate of members to 85% by September 30, 2007. <ul><li>Strategies : </li></ul><ul><li>Optimist International will foster and promote awareness among Club leadership to maximize membership retention. Recognize and develop guidance to Club leadership that all members’ needs, views, and concerns are important to the health of the Club. </li></ul><ul><li>Standardize and encourage new member installation, induction, orientation and involvement procedures. Increase utilization of various club rebuilding programs to retain members within weak Optimist Clubs and well as the clubs themselves. </li></ul><ul><li>Foster methods and develop new programs to increase membership attendance at club meetings. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal 3: Optimist International will grow to become a thriving, dynamic, progressive organization with members committed to the mission of providing ever-expanding service to the youth, the community and the world. </li></ul></ul>July 2008

Increase total adult membership to 107,000 by September 30, 2010. <ul><li>Strategies : </li></ul><ul><li>Promote “Friend of Optimist” class of membership directly affiliated to Optimist International. (achieved and ongoing) </li></ul><ul><li>Develop an ongoing membership recruitment program. </li></ul><ul><li>Network with other Youth Service Organizations to find common areas for growth such as but not limited to: A. Optimist Class Sailboat Association (to teach kids how to sail) currently in many Countries around the world. B. HOBY partnerships C. National Association of Secondary School Principals. </li></ul><ul><li>Increase better utilization of Certified Club Builders (CCBs) and develop system to train teams of District CCBs to be responsible for their own District’s growth. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal 3: Optimist International will grow to become a thriving, dynamic, progressive organization with members committed to the mission of providing ever-expanding service to the youth, the community and the world. </li></ul></ul>July 2008

Increase the number of JOOI Clubs to 800 by September 30, 2010. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Develop creative District incentives for adult clubs to build JOOI Clubs. </li></ul><ul><li>Attend professional conferences (Staff to network with other service organizations) </li></ul><ul><li>Establish unique identity for JOOI (service leadership) </li></ul><ul><li>Develop Builder of Excellence for JOOI clubs </li></ul><ul><li>Consider Regional Conferences for JOOI members during spring break or summer sessions that will build the core values of Optimist International </li></ul><ul><li>Solicit Corporate sponsorships for funding </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Goal 3: Optimist International will grow to become a thriving, dynamic, progressive organization with members committed to the mission of providing ever-expanding service to the youth, the community and the world. </li></ul></ul>July 2008

Implement an ongoing process of assessing and evaluating all International Programs and Policies for consistency with the Mission. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>Evaluate Club programs, and recommend to the Board, for inclusion for District and International implementation. (ongoing) </li></ul><ul><li>Formulate new International Programs consistent with Optimist International’s Mission and Vision and seek Board approval for implementation. (ongoing) </li></ul>Goal 4: Consider, design, and implement Optimist programs that will focus on realizing the vision of Optimist International in four core areas: Growth, Education, Communications, and Activities. Develop and Implement worldwide program(s) to encourage Optimists to actively participate in projects that maximize character-development of youth and community improvement. <ul><li>Strategies: </li></ul><ul><li>By October 1, 2008 Optimist International will adopt appropriate Policy and actively encourage all Optimists worldwide to focus on participating in projects that are geared towards character-development of youth and community improvement. </li></ul><ul><li>Optimist International will implement a system to record, evaluate, and support efforts geared towards achieving strategy i) above with ongoing feedback to members at quarterly intervals using the most efficient media. </li></ul><ul><li>Work to publish materials for teaching youth (JOOI) the principles of personal worth and personal missions. </li></ul><ul><li>Work with Institutions of high learning (Universities) to research methods of enhancing life styles and quality of life through optimism. </li></ul>Goal 4: Consider, design, and implement Optimist programs that will focus on realizing the vision of Optimist International in four core areas: Growth, Education, Communications, and Activities. Continue and enhance a system of reports and recognition for successful new programs that are implemented by Clubs. <ul><li>Strategies : </li></ul><ul><li>Develop an online system of evaluation to be placed on an Optimist leadership website or similar vehicle. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop a resource library online of successful/best practices projects, fundraisers, and recognition programs. Completed. </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure that appropriate recognition systems are in place for all Districts to reward excellence. Completed. </li></ul><ul><li>Encourage “Club Project Awards” to be presented in electronic formats for easy loading and accessing from our websites. </li></ul><ul><li>Devise a system to encourage clubs to develop programs with the ultimate goal of their programs(s) becoming an official OI program.
