a type of payment vehicle designed to facilitate a corporation’s procurement of MRO items. Corporations can issue purchasing cards to their employees or can associate purchasing cards to a project, department,or a particular supplier (called ghost cards).
Differances from other types of credit cards
Direct-pay, requiring no personal liability on the part of the card holder.
Do not carry revolving credit. The corporation settles the entire amount due when invoiced by the issuing bank.
Purchasing cards have unique controls associated with them. A corporation can specify limits on transaction size or impose certain restrictions on cards, such as at what types of merchants the card can be used, and how many transactions or how much dollar volume can be charged to the card in a given period of time.
Purchasing card transactions can provide more enhanced data than other credit cards.(tax information, line items associated with transaction)
