The electronic industry is a new area of development for the State of Durango, the installation of LG-Philips in the eastern part of the State, with substantial growth and future exports that could top 800 million US dollars, will allow the development of a new industrial cluster bound to the steel products/manufacturing, injected plastics and consumer products among others.
Automotive Industry
This cluster makes up the fourth link of this productive chain. Durango counts with established suppliers for the automotive sector through which diverse companies offer products such as, air conditioning and heating units, automotive radiators, automotive harnesses, electric motors, internal combustion motors.
Mining
Mining activity in Durango has been an important sector of the economy for more than 400 years, it was the reason the city was founded back in 1563 and most of the historic center of the Capital, in itself was built with its monies.
Forestry Industry
620 industries benefit from the vast natural resources of certified forests by the Forest Stewardship Council. The State is, the number 1 producer of lumber in México with 30% of the country´s demand.

The textile and apparel cluster, outstands as the second producer of denim pants in the world as well as in the tailoring of dress apparel for brands of international prestige. This industry in its more than 128 establishments employs well over 32 thousand workers in the State. Textile and apparel industry outstands in manufacturing and has soon become the main export motor and employment generator troughout the State. There are 210 apparel and 8 textile manufacturing industries in Durango. 99.08% compete in the exporting area; 92 of them using PITEX (Temporal Import Program for Export) and 128 as Maquiladoras.
Information Technologies
The State of Durango has world class telecommunications services. The fixed line network has increased 79% during the last six years. This along with local talent and proximity to dominant markets like that of the USA, has positioned the State as a most attractive location for IT and software development companies.
