HISTORICALL BACKGROUND <ul><ul><li>Bureau of Statistics in its present set-up and status is an Attached Department of the Planning & Development Department </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Bureau was established in Lahore in 1957 in the then Power, Irrigation and Development Department of the Government of West Pakistan. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It was made a part of the Planning & Development Department on 31st January, 1959. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>It was declared an Attached Department of the Planning & Development Department on 1st July, 1973. </li></ul></ul>

DIRECTORY OF REGISTERED FACTORIES <ul><li>The Directorate of Labour Welfare, Punjab is responsible for registration and de-registration of the factories under the Factories Act, 1934. </li></ul><ul><li>The Bureau prepares a Directory of Registered Factories in the Punjab and keeps it updated. </li></ul><ul><li>The Directory contains information on factories listed district/tehsil and industry-wise, arranged alphabetically under each industry. </li></ul><ul><li>The Directory also contains the information on fixed assets size and employment size etc. </li></ul><ul><li>This directory supplemented with the latest information available with the Directorate of Industries is used as a Frame for the CMI. </li></ul><ul><li>Directory of Registered Factories is released annually. </li></ul>
