  • 4. In 1918 he JOINED the army, he was too young then falsified his date of Walt drawing birth. With the army he travelled to Europe, andhe drew in the ambulance when he didn´t drive it .When he returned to the U.S.A Walt worked as an illustrator in Kansas City.
  • 5. With his friend Ubbe Iwerks, he founded Iwerks-Disney Commercial Artist in 1920 but they had toclose it.Two years later Walt created Laugh-O-GramFilms, an animated short film company likeCinderella or Cat with Boots. In 1923 Walt decidedto go to Hollywood with his latest film AlicesWonderland, because he didn´t have ANY money WAL T UB IWERKS In Hollywood he looked for a job but he didn´t find it, so he sent “Alice´s Wonderland” to New York, and a company hired him. With Roy, the protagonist of Alices Wonderland and Iwerks they created Disney Brother´s Studio, the beginning of The Walt Disney Company.
  • 6. In 1925 Disney Brother´sStudio hired Lillian Bounds. Soon they got married. They had a son: Diane Marie Disney Three years later they adopted a girl: Sharon Mae Disney.
  • 7. In 1927 the companycreated a new character: “Oswald the lucky rabbit” The short films ofOswald werevery popular.

Iwerks was tired of making the most ofthe work and to be only Walts Iwerksassistant, and he left the work.But Iwerks drew 700 drawings each andday, and Walt had to hire a lot of Mickeydraftsmen.At the end Iwerks decided to return withhim.Ub Iwerks died in 1971 of a heart attack.   • 9. One of Walts dreams was to build an amusement park called Disneyland. He bought a lot ofland near Los Angeles thatmeasured 730,000 square meters. The construction began on July 21, 1954 and opened on July 17, 1955.
