  • Hi and thank you for the introduction. As xxx said my name is Anna and I'm here to talk a little bit about whats next. And we are going to do that by having a look at a couple of trends that I see emerging in 2013.    just to give you a short glimpse of what the market look like as of today.
  • More brands and companies are going into the digital world. There has been a mayor change the last couple of years and only on the apple says that 40 billion apps has been downloaded since app store opened in 2008 and whereas 20 billion was last year.  and more people are accessing internet via a mobile device than desktop/ laptop.   In other words is a great challenge to get through the mass information  Im going to present 6 trends here. Let's start off with the first one THIS MEANS THAT IT IS HARD TO GET THROUGH THE MASS INFORMATION
  • Which is Social gamification. This is not about creating a game but  engaging your customer. And the reason why you have to do this is to get through the clutter. It is not about creating a game but a the feeling and that it works like one.  A couple of examples that we have seen is
  • Foursquare you probably know of. You check in and if it is a place where you have checked in the most you get the mayorship. LinkedIn, where you can endorse and get endorse by you connections and in that way being engaged. Lift is another example of how you can encourage yourself with the help of others for with things like, go to a concert, take the stairs, don't eat candy.

  • The second one is video. And video is the new superpower. On youtube 72 hours of video is uploaded every minute and people watch 48 billion hours of video every month. In that way it is important to get through the information.  online video tomorrow as important as websites today
  • One example is social cam that works like instagram but for video. you shoot a video and add a filter to it. Another one is vine which lets you stream for 6 seconds, add text and upload it. When you look through the videos of your friends each video starts to play. And of course there will be an increase in YouTube channels. And the amount of time spend with video makes it important to be present with videos so your users can consume you!

  • Next one is social commerce. Last week ecommerce sales passed 1 trillion usd. And this with the opportunity to buy being more mobile, works on multiple devices, having quicker check-outs, adding gamification to loyalty programs. But also using geo-location in stores, and voice recognition when paying.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqLM9gHDkq0 http://www.geekwire.com/2013/worldwide-ecommerce-sales-surpassed-1-trillion-2012/ U se of social strategies to anticipate, personlize and energize the shopping exp e r ience - Altimiter Group
  • . A couple of examples is a networking platform where you as a member get reduced price and are able to buy stuff with just one click. Another one is pinterest where you are able to buy things with one click. And we are also seeing platforms as Tictail that makes it easy to set up your own webshop.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqLM9gHDkq0

  • The fourth trend that we see are niched  platforms. Services that are created for specific target groups. These can focus on location and interest for example. Is about reaching into a qualitative target group rather than a quantitative.
  • One example is platform32 that lets you create a network with other people within the film and theatre. Anotherone is mazily that is a dejtingsite for people within the culture scene. Or bl that is instagram with extra functions for food lovers.  mazily.com

  • The fith and ongoing trend is internet of things. And this we have been seen growing for a long time now but I think this will be more and more present.
  • And yes smartphones will be become the remote of our lives and here are two examples. One is nike fuel band which is two things. One app and one bracelet. The bracelet you wear and it controls how much step you take and how much energy you use. The app you can use to  control this. The other one is the botanicals were you put a sensor with the plant and the sensor will tweet you when the plant is need of water.

  • And the last but not least trend is set the stage. Set the stage in the sense that people are connected to people and they do what their friends are doing not what google is saying. They also want to have access and be able to do different stuff from their preferable platform. So make sure you make this space for them. And by making that the users are able to drive the change and work for you and guard you. Let''s have a look at some examples.
  • Google now is a platform which has integrated you calendar, with your map and the weather so it guide you through the city while driving to get to you meeting at the right time. The second one is yelp, where i can search for ex restaurants to find what my friends recommend. And the platform that lets the user crowdsource the content. Starbucks that gives the user a possibility to discuss, come with solutions and guard your brand.  Starbucks - let your users be the crowdsources and defender

  • So in overall here are some of the trends for 2013. So set the stage with the conditions for your consumers and users to act.    This will help you get through the clutter and be present in your users life.
