  8. 8. SUN It’s a burning ball of fire. It’s a star. It is very big and life on Earth depends on it.
  9. 9. THE PLANETS There are 8 planets…
  10. 10. MERCURY It’s the closest planet to the sun. It’s a ball of iron and it has no moon.
  11. 11. VENUS It’s the same size as the Earth but it spins in the other way. It has no water or moon.
  12. 12. EARTH It’s the place where we all live. There is land and lots of seas (water), so it looks blue It’s called the blue planet. It has got 1 moon.
  13. 13. MARS It’s a rocky red planet. It’s called the red planet. Its mountains are the highest in the solar system. It has two moons.
  14. 14. JUPITER Stable STORM It’s a gas giant. It’s the biggest planet and it spins the fastest. It has got 63 moons. It’s got the biggest moon.
  15. 15. SATURN It’s a gas giant. Its rings are made of ice. It has got 62 moons. Titan is its biggest moon.
  16. 16. URANUS It’s an icy gas giant. It’s the coldest planet in the solar system. It has rings made of dust. It has got 27 moons.
  17. 17. NEPTUNE It’s an icy gas giant. It’s the farthest planet from the sun. It has got 13 moons and many storms.
  18. 18. PLUTO It has got 2 moons. It is considered a dwarf planet (very small). There are 5 dwarf planets, including Pluto, or maybe more…
