On shore, the temperature during the year varies from 40° F (4.4° C) to 70° F (21.1° C) and 80° F (26.7° C). Further inland, the summer is hot and dry, and at higher altitudes, one can perceive the stations so well marked, with cold and snowy winters. The contrast is quite remarkable in the two largest cities of the state's, where você'encontrará various types of weather. San Francisco is famous for its fog - especially in the summer, and Los Angeles is known for its sunny days and its similar to the climate of a coastal desert.

It is the most populous U.S. state , the house of one of eight Americans (38 million people) , and is the third largest state in area (after Alaska and Texas) . It is home to areas of the country the second and the fifth most populous census statistical (greater Los Angeles area and San Francisco Bay Area , respectively) , and eight of the 50 most populous cities of the country (Los Angeles , San Diego , San Jose , San Francisco , Fresno , Sacramento , Long Beach and Oakland) . Sacramento is capital of California.
  9. 9. CALIFORNIA • What is now California was founded by several Native American tribes before being explored by a number of European expeditions throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. Then it was claimed by the Spanish Empire as part of Alta California in greater territory of New Spain. Alta California became a part of Mexico in 1821 , following its successful war for independence , but would be ceded to the United States in 1848, after the Mexican-American War. The western part of Alta California was organized as soon as the state of California, which was admitted as a state on 31 September 9, 1850. The California Gold Rush from 1848 led to dramatic social and demographic change, with large scale immigration from the U.S. and abroad and an economic growth that accompanies it.
