ASSET's MicroMaster was the first structural and functional test system for designs based on the Atom processor, a new low-power processor architecture for applications like mobile Internet devices (MID), low-cost laptop PCs and others. MicroMaster's CPU emulation technology takes control of the Atom and asserts structural and functional test and diagnostic routines onto other devices and other nodes on the circuit board. The newly announced RIC-1000 is the industry's first Internet-based boundary-scan (JTAG) controller. It implements a client/server architecture over the Internet with ASSET's ScanWorks® boundary scan test and embedded instrumentation platform. As a result, a test engineer at a ScanWorks station in Europe could apply tests via a RIC-1000 over the Internet on a circuit board being manufactured in a factory in Asia, for example.
