  2. 2. St Patrick's Day St Patrick's Day is celebrated by the Irish community everywhere in the world, in Ireland, in the United States, in Britain and whereever there are Irish people. 2
  3. 3. St Patrick's Day St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He was probably born in Wales in about AD 389. At 15 some pirates took him to Ireland and he became a slave. At 21 he escaped and became a priest in France. 3
  4. 4. St Patrick's Day When St Patrick was about 33 he returned to Ireland as a bishop and converted many Irish people to Christianity. 4
  5. 5. St Patrick's Day St Patrick first introduced the Latin alphabet to Ireland. He died in 461 AD. 5
