The explosive growth in data creation and storage is driving exponential growth in international data 2  Since 2000, seen a 14,000X increase in SX data traffic  The average business today uses approximately 4 times the internet data that the entire country did in 2000  Driven by: • Storage • Video • Skype • e-commerce • Cloud adoption
  • 3. And migration to cloud computing is fuelling much of this growing traffic 3  All forms of cloud are growing as clients go on a fairly predictable journey  As a network and ICT provider we are servicing all forms In-house Virtualisation Private cloud Public cloud Global class Public cloud @petercoffee “Consider  cloud  solutions  during  the  procurement  process  before  considering  any  others”

  • 5. 5 Whatever approach you have to cloud, there is one constant - the network between you and the cloud
  • 6. 6 Traditionally the connection to the cloud has been the internet, however with newer cloud use cases comes new network demands Public internet  Great for low data volumes and situations where latency isn’t  an  issue  Fairly resilient; but is best efforts  Facing constraints such as congestion, control/privacy, internet data costs, insufficient SLAs IP SEC Networks  Dedicated capacity, higher bandwidth  More security  But still across a public network – still impacted by other traffic  You have to manage this Carrier Grade Networks  Very high bandwidth  Secure and separate from all other traffic  High SLAs offered by your telco  Simple Ethernet configuration
  • 7. 7 In response AWS has built the Direct Connect service, which enables a dedicated layer 2 network connection between you and AWS via a network partner AWS Sydney Amazon S3 Virtual Private Cloud Amazon EMR DX Facility Amazon Redshift Amazon Glacier Amazon EC2 New Zealand Customer
  • 8. Telecom is excited to be launching our Tasman Cloud Connect service to enable dedicated, high bandwidth and secure connectivity to AWS Trans-Tasman CE network LFC Access Your business EC2, S3 Glacier Dynamo DB

Tasman Cloud Connect effectively extends our domestic layer 2 network to Australia,  removing  the  barrier  of  AWS  being  ‘over  there’  Combines the domestic and Trans-Tasman service end to end  Fully core protected service with back-up path on Southern Cross via Hawaii in event of primary path failure  Absolutely uncontended service, what you buy is what you get  Secure by design  SLA’s  for  Jitter,  latency  and  uptime  etc  Removes data centre provider hurdles CE Edge AWS CE Edge TCC Primary Path TCC Failover Path (via Hawaii) The TCC primary path is on the shortest route between the 2 Data Centre points on the Southern Cross Cable Network trans-Tasman The TCC Failover Path is on a longer route between the 2 Data Centre points on the Southern Cross Cable Network and traverses Hawaii TNZ Core Your business
