  • 5. Breakfast
    • Breakfast is available from 8:05-8:20 each morning. Students eating breakfast should meet at the front entrance. The cost is $1.20.
  • 6. Drop off and Pick up Drop Off Pick Up Morning 8:30 a.m. E-7 11:10 a.m. Front ( Please park in lot and walk to front entrance) Afternoon 12:50 p.m. Front entrance (May park in lot) 3:30 p.m. E-7
  • 7. Notes and Attendance
    • Regular attendance is extremely important!
    • Please contact us if your child will be absent for more than five days so we can prepare homework.
    • Always call the office to report an absence.
  • 8. Transportation Changes
    • Send a note if there are any changes.
    • Include:
      • Who will be picking up your child?
      • Dates of change
      • Where he/she will be going
    • We need a note or we cannot release your child to the person without a phone call to you.
  • 9. Snack Time
    • Please send a healthy, ready-to-eat snack with your child each day. We only have 15 minutes to eat. They may also bring juice or water.
    • *Mrs. Zieger’s classroom does not have a water fountain, so please bring a container for water.
    • You may send a birthday treat to school, but no birthday party invitations, please.
  • 10. Observations
    • Every parent will have the opportunity to spend the day with our class to observe your child. We will send home more information in the next several weeks.
    • Please sign up for a day to observe today before you leave P.I.N. Thank you!
  • 11. Quarterly Parent Communication
    • Quarter 1: Look What I Can Do!
    • Quarter 2: Parent Visitation/Conference
    • Quarter 3: Dial 3
    • Quarter 4: Look What I Can Do!
  • 12. Inclement Weather
    • The shelters will be open when the weather is poor. Cadets will monitor the students. Morning students will be in the hallway near the E-7 entrance, afternoon students will wait in the office foyer.
  • 13. Newsletters and Homework
    • Newsletters and homework are sent home weekly on Fridays.
    • Our homework is called “On Track to Kindergarten.”
      • It is optional, but will reinforce what we are learning in school.
      • It requires parent assistance.
      • Please let your child write his/her own name.
    • Read with your child every night.
  • 14. Volunteers
    • Background checks are required by our school district for any volunteers. Please make sure you fill out the form provided.
    • No volunteers will be needed at school until children are into the routine of school. The beginning of the year is a great time to practice independence!
  • 15. Odds and Ends…
    • Backpacks must be able to hold a folder and should be labeled with first and last name.
    • All items should be labeled (coats, hats, boots, etc.)
    • Check folders every Friday.
  • 16. Book Orders
    • Our classes earn a free book every time you order online. We will also send home paper order forms monthly.
    • See the handbook for the website and log-in information.
    • Scholastic Web Site
  • 17. Show and Tell
    • Watch the newsletter for the monthly show and tell themes.
    • Show and Tell will be the last Friday of each month.
  • 18. Book Buddy
    • Beginning in October, students will bring home a book buddy bag. They can keep the bag for one night, complete the activities, and return the bag for the next student. We will send home a permission slip in the next several weeks.
  • 19. Donations
    • We would appreciate donations to our classrooms. Please check our constellation of giving in the hallway and take a post-it note if you can bring the item. Our classrooms will share the items donated.
  • 20. Learning Targets
    • Our classes use learning targets to display and discuss what we are learning each week. They are shown in our classrooms and discussed each day!
    • We use “I can…” statements.
  • 21. PTA
    • Kari Simpson is our school’s PTA president. She will be stopping by to talk to families.
  • 22. Parenting for School Success
    • Parenting for school success is the next four Mondays from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
    • Every child who attends receives a free book and free child care for all siblings.
    • Parents receive a workbook of ideas to use with their children.
    • Every parent who attends will be entered into a drawing for a Pick n’ Save gift card.

  • 23. PBIS Shirts are available in the cafeteria. If you have not paid, they are $5. Wear shirts on Fridays!
  • 24. Mrs. Zieger’s friends should go next door to have their family photo taken!
