  • The world’s demands for power are unlimited. Unfortunately, its resources are not. Eaton is dedicated to helping you overcome that challenge—and to keeping your business and the global economy growing. Eaton helps leading companies gain a competitive advantage by managing power more efficiently, effectively and sustainably. Our diversified businesses work with customers to solve many of today’s most urgent economic and environmental challenges, including: - Building “greener,” more energy-efficient buildings, communities and infrastructure. - Accelerating the development of renewable energy technologies. - Powering construction equipment and other machines more productively and safely, while reducing their environmental impact. - Designing eco-efficient aircraft that reduce fuel consumption and operating costs. - Improving fuel economy and reducing emissions in autos, trucks and other essential forms of transportation. Eaton is a true global company, with more than half of our sales generated outside of the U.S., and a growing percentage in emerging economies. Our people are ready to respond to your power management needs anywhere in the world.
  • Eaton is a values-based company, committed to “Doing Business Right.” That’s more than a philosophy. It’s a standard with specific performance metrics that we use to evaluate all of our operations across the globe. We place the highest value on integrity, fostering a culture of fairness, openness and honesty. Our people commit to a comprehensive code of ethics and behaviors and our company has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the most ethical companies in the world. Eaton is Sustainable by Design. Across our business lines, Eaton has embraced sustainability—in the way we live and work, how we design products and how we manage our people and operations. We carefully measure our own environmental, health and safety performance across a range of criteria, and share that information openly in an annual sustainability report. As a result our company has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the most ethical companies in the world. Eaton products and solutions also advance our customers’ sustainability objectives in countless ways — from reducing energy consumption in buildings to helping alternative energy producers operate more reliably and cost-effectively. Eaton is a leader in designing new products that are “sustainable by design”—both in how they are manufactured and the benefits they provide to customers. Hybrids for trucks and buses: Eaton has the broadest range of technologies (diesel-electric hybrids, diesel-hydraulic hybrids), for delivery trucks (Coca Cola, Pepsi, FedEx, UPS), city buses (Beiqi Foton Bus, China), refuse trucks (Waste Management). More than 13 million in-service revenue miles to date. Superchargers , traditionally used for power in performance cars, now being used by Audi and others to improve fuel efficiency. Use smaller engine + supercharger to get same power as larger engine. Eaton’s high pressure hydraulic system helped Airbus reduce weight of A380 by 1 metric ton, saving fuel and CO2 emissions. Lighting Controls automatically dim or turn off lights in buildings, when rooms are unoccupied or natural light is available. Electricity metering and audits allow building owners to identify and improve inefficient electricity usage. Datacenters consume 1.2% of US electricity. Eaton’s UPS systems lead the industry in efficiency and help reduce electricity consumption. Wind : Hydraulic controls for blade pitch (angle to wind); Electrical controls for turbine operations and to connect turbines to the electric grid. Solar : Electrical controls connect photovoltaic cells to buildings, substations, and the grid. Hydropower : Hydraulic controls open & close the gates; controls gate position & turbine blade pitch; maintain connection between turbine & generator. Growing market, especially in APR and LAR. Biofuels: Agriculture (sugarcane) creates demand for trucks, truck transmissions, esp. in LAR. Eaton Filtration equipment used to process sugarcane into ethanol / biofuel. New hydraulic fuel hoses for use in trucks, boats, and lawn care equipment do not degrade when used with biofuel and reduce fuel emissions through the hose.
