  3. 3. SONY INTERACTIVE WALKMAN DISPLAYSony wished to compete in the MP3 market and challenge other providers. The key USPis based around the Sony superior sound quality and therefore the execution is aimed atdriving experience of the sound and of the products. Testing of the unit enabled the unitto be developed in such a way that 76% of users listen to the sound as the first actionwhen interacting with the unit.
  4. 4. SONY INTERACTIVE WALKMAN DISPLAYThe solution was at the time of its launch the only unit in the market that provided such levels ofinteractivity and real time data information. The display allows consumers to listen, use and playwith the products whilst obtaining specific information about the product they have chosen tointeract with. When a product is picked up the screen instantly recognises it and displaysthe relevant information on the product. If the screen is used to choose a product then thecorresponding product choice is illuminated on the display to provide easy recognition. Productscan be compared using the touchscreen or indeed a product finder can be used.

SONY INTERACTIVE WALKMAN DISPLAYSony is able to obtain real time sales data and usage from the site which can help shapesales strategy: the data details how the unit is being used, which products are interactedwith most and can be linked to store data to see how interactivity converts to sales.

SONY INTERACTIVE WALKMAN DISPLAYSoftware content is easily updateable remotely via the wi –fi network and the store itself retainscomplete control of the products featured and the retail pricing by way of a retailer only section onthe software accessed via the touchscreen.This allows store promotions and new products to be seamlessly integrated into the displayensuring longevity.
  7. 7. SONY INTERACTIVE WALKMAN DISPLAYThis European and global programme is set to continue rolling throughout 2011 and 2012. Thedisplays are designed in such a way that they can be produced bespoke per store ensuringthat each store has a display that fits perfectly to the designated space in store regardless ofchannel whether it be in run or standalone. The displays can be produced to fit into or on toexisting store fixturing to minimise disruption to the store and ensure that it is compatible andremains in any situation.
