In Tampico, Illinois during a snowstorm Jack Reagan was pacing his apartment waiting for his son to come into the world. Then cries came from the top floor. Jack rushed to the top floor to meet his ten pound son. Ronald Reagan was born.
A few days later people started calling him Dutch Reagan.
Dixon, Illinois contains many of Ronald Reagan’s happiest memories but it also contains one of his worst childhood fears.” I was eleven years old, Ronald Reagan exclaimed, “ the first time I came home to find my father flat on his back on the front porch . . . He was drunk, dead to the world . . . I felt myself fill with grief for my father . . . His hair soaked with melting snow, snoring as he breathed . . . I bent over him, smelling the sharp odor of whiskey . . . I managed to drag him inside and get him to bed. In a few days, he was the bluff, hearty man I new and loved, and will always remember.”
Also in Dixon, Illinois there was a river were Ronald and his friends would swim in the summer and ice-skate in the winter
Reagan and his wife Jane Wyman divorced. Which caused him much hurt and soon fell in 18,000 dollars of debt. Then his eyes fell upon Nancy Davis and they soon got married. Reagan also started earning 125,000 dollars a year.
Reagan had already joined the army but had been on reserve the whole time. During World War 2 Ronald Reagan was called to duty. But it required a physical exam. They soon figured out Reagan had cheated on his last eye test because he had weak eyesight so instead they sent him to a movie acting studio to make a film on what the army is like. His movie Rear Gunner soon came out.
John Hicknley Jr. tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981. The mental man shot 3 people. Two Secret Service men who risked their lives by shielding Reagan with their own body . . . Timothy McCarthy and James Brady. The other man shot was Ronald Reagan ½ and inch from the heart.
