CASE STUDIES
The Bridge, Lichfield:
One day inspection working closely with the Headteacher, resulting in recommendations on
how to take the Bridge forward.
"Gary visited Bridge in November 2014 at the request of the SMT. He gave an unbiased view of
policies, procedures and practice followed by invaluable advice as to how to move from 'Good'
to 'Outstanding'. We were impressed by his expertise and grateful for practical ways to move
forwards. Gary has a wealth of knowledge and is an inspirational speaker."
Susan Kulas, Headteacher.

All children, including those excluded from school, deserve a second chance – the best
chance – to succeed in learning and in life.
There is no such thing as a bad child, only negative behaviours and difficult circumstances.
Behaviour is learned communication. Behaviours can be unlearned and relearned.
With passionate, visionary leadership, dedicated staff and effective school organisation, all
children can learn and can succeed.
Our purpose, our passion, is to empower children to take control of their lives, begin to
realise their hopes and aspirations, change their world and, together, change ours.

2CL was founded in 2014 by Gary Lefley, former Headteacher of two
Outstanding schools.
Gary worked in inner city mainstream secondary schools for 16 years. He
moved into special education in 2000 as the Secondary Head of New Rush
Hall, the renowned all-years BESD school in Redbridge.
In 2006 Gary was appointed Head of the John Barker Centre, a Pupil Referral
Unit on the verge of special measures. In 2010 the Centre was deemed
Outstanding by Ofsted.
In 2011 Gary was appointed Headteacher of the Enfield Secondary Tuition
Centre, a 3 site PRU catering for 100 permanently excluded pupils. In 2013
the Centre was also judged Outstanding by Ofsted.
What did Ofsted say?
Ofsted, January 2007:
"All this occurs because of the high quality of leadership by the
Headteacher".
Ofsted, March 2010:
"Exceptionally strong leadership at the very top… The John Barker Centre
achieves its success under the excellent leadership of the
Headteacher..."
