THE ANATOMY OF THE MICRO FORUM TECHNIQUE

  1. 1. The Anatomy of theMicro-Forum Technique
  2. 2. BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE WORK
  3. 3. WHATS IT ABOUT?
  4. 4. ENERGYTRANSACTION
  5. 5. WHATHAPPENS TO ABRAIN WITHNOSTRUCTURE?
  6. 6. Building structurearound thoughtprocesses
  7. 7. Building compartments ofthought
  8. 8. Possibly viewing it like a circuit board
  9. 9. Each box is what we are going to call a ‘ROLE’ which isAN ASSOCIATED SET OF BEHAVIOURS
  10. 10. The model I am using iscomprised of several elementslayered together to create aformula for thought growth.
  11. 11. 1ST LayerDIALECTICTHESISANTI – THESISSYNTHESIS
  12. 12. THESIS ANTITHESISTRIAD OF THOUGHT SYNTHESIS
  13. 13. This triad or formation wouldgive me the root of my modal. InThe Life of the Mind: Willing. ByHannah Arendt published in1978 we can use this diagram toclarify the paradigm as statedabove.Infinite Progress
  14. 14. 2nd Element AUGUSTO BOALFORUM THEATREActorAudienceJoker
  15. 15. Forum theatre is a type oftheatre created by theinnovative and influentialpractitioner Augusto Boal aspart of what he calls his"Theatre of the Oppressed."Boal created Forum theatre asa forum for teaching peoplehow to challenge theirperceptions of oppressionsthey may experience.
  16. 16. ACTOR AUDIENCEFORUM THEATRE JOKER
  17. 17. 3RD ELEMENT THE MICRO-FORUM TECHNIQUE
  18. 18. (PARTICIPATOR) (OBSERVER)The Micro-ForumTechnique the intra-psychic level of meaning. (TRICKSTER)
  19. 19. So we have the triad of the HegelianDialectic which is an analysis ofthought process, we have AugustoBoals Forum Theatre which is anexternal process of the Hegelianprocess and we have The MicroForum Technique which is an internaland external process at the sametime. The Hegelian dialectic workingas in internal and external dynamic atthe same time.We might say that this is an intra-psychic process as well as aninterpersonal process.
  20. 20. ACTOR AUDIENCE THESIS .... ANTI - THESIS .... (PARTICIPATOR) (OBSERVER)Forum Theatre + Hegelian JOKERDialectic + The Micro-Forum Technique SYNTHESIS (TRICKSTER)
  21. 21. What are aiming at is moving fluidlyback and fourth between the thesesand the antitheses, the observer andthe participator aspects of our brainthrough negotiation with the joker/trickster which creates the syntheses. In any relational learning we need tobe able to adapt to situations andchange circumstance as required. We are entering into dialogue.
  22. 22. INTERNAL DIALOGUE
  23. 23. Once we start to dialogue withourselves we start to takeresponsibility as a naturalconsequence of observing our ownthought.
  24. 24. We start to think about our‘selves’ and we start to thinkabout the ‘selves’ of others as aconsequence, through theobserving process.
  25. 25. Thegroupprocess
  26. 26. NEXT CHAPTER........ A G B F C E D
  27. 27. The group discusses an idea that leads them to acommonality. This will be our point of analysisand will form the core of the exploration.
  28. 28. We attach the core exploration to a characterwhich we build in the now. Essentially this is ourthesis.
  29. 29. Then we create characters that move around thecentral character and will form the antithesis.
  30. 30. Essentially we are going to write a play in the now toexplore a central theme and find possible differentoutcomes formulated by the journey of the charactercarrying the central theme with other characters bringingthe action of the central character into questionactivating the Thesis and Antithesis …………..The Synthesis comes by way of getting the group toparticipate and observe at the same time intandem………………This fully activates the mirror neuron system internallyand externally at the same time enabling the group toformulate empathy for and through each other.
  31. 31. The two people outside the group act asstoryteller and supervisor and will feedback tothe group there understanding of the process. These two roles are to activate the innerstoryteller and the inner supervisor essential forintra-psychic negotiation and self-development.
