Brand recognition is essential to an entity, a project, a business, an enterprise. With all of the social media venues to participate in to increase one's reach, it can be challenging to create a clear, consistent, seamless, recognizable brand. This presentation illustrates how to accomplish this with easy step-by step instructions in both graphic design and marketing.

Transcript of "Brand recognition across the social media landscape"

  1. 1. + BRANDING HOW TO CREATE A SEAMLESS DYNAMIC RECOGNIZABLE CONSISTENT IDENTITY ACROSS THE SOCIAL MEDIA LANDSCAPE A PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES
  2. 2. + WHAT MAKES A BRAND SEAMLESS?  USE A LIMITED NUMBER OF ELEMENTS  MAINTAIN THE SAME COLOR COMBINATIONS KEEPING IN MIND THAT ONE VARIABLE MAY BE THE WAY TO DISTINGUISH IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES.  SELECT A FEW CONSISTENT TYPE FACES, ONE FOR THE HEADINGS, ONE FOR TEXT  DESIGN ONE OR TWO FOCAL POINTS A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES
  3. 3. + WHAT MAKES A BRAND DYNAMIC?  USE ELEMENTS THAT CREATE MOVEMENT AND A UNIQUE BALANCE  PICK COLORS THAT COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER AND HAVE SOME LIVELINESS TO THE AS WELL  SELECT A TITLE TYPEFACE AND A TEXT TYPEFACE. THEY SHOULD NOT BE THE SAME. THEY SHOULD COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER  THE FOCAL POINT OR ICON SHOULD BE ATTENTION GRABBING. IF THERE ARE TWO, THEY SHOULD BALANCE EACH OTHER OR PICK A DOMINANT AND LESSER ONE. A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES
  4. 4. + WHAT MAKES A BRAND WORK IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS? BEING FLEXIBLE ABOUT SIZING  PLAYING WITH PLACEMENT  MAINTAINING CONSISTENCY WHERE ESSENTIAL  RESPECTING THE MAJOR ELEMENTS WITHOUT BECOMING A SLAVE TO EXACT DUPLICATION  SOCIAL MEDIA AVENUES VARY GREATLY IN DIMENSIONS AND THESE DIMENSIONS CHANGES OFTEN. GO WITH THE FLOW WHILE MAINTAINING CONFIDENCE IN YOUR IDENTITY. A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES
  5. 5. + CREATING THE BRAND: SELECT IDENTIFYING ELEMENT A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES  SELECTING AN IDENTIFYING ELEMENT IS A PROCESS.  BIRTHING THE ICON OR LOGO IS AN ORGANIC PROCESS THAT TENDS TO REVEAL ITSELF RATHER THAN BE ARRIVED AT INTELLECTUALLY.  FOR EXAMPLE, THE NAME ‘ART AND BYTES’ EVOLVED TO ART & BYTES. THE ‘&’ SYMBOL IS A NATURAL OBJECT TO USE AND DEVELOP FOR EASY IDENTIFICATION.  NOT ONLY DID IT BECOME THE ICON AND FOCAL POINT BUT IT EVOLVED TO THE POINT WHERE IT WORKED DYNAMICALLY AND WAS EASILY RECOGNIZED.
  6. 6. + CREATING THE BRAND: DEVELOP IDENTIFYING ELEMENT A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES ART AND BYTES ART AND BYTES simply spelled out
  7. 7. + CREATING THE BRAND: DEVELOP IDENTIFYING ELEMENT A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES ART & BYTES ART AND BYTES becomes
  8. 8. + CREATING THE BRAND: DEVELOP IDENTIFYING ELEMENT A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES The ‘&’ in ART & BYTES gets some pizzazz, color, outline and enlarged. The entire line is made ‘relaxed’ leaving room between each letter and character.
  9. 9. + CREATING THE BRAND: DEVELOP IDENTIFYING ELEMENT A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES A background color is added. Notice how four colors are both dynamic and balanced at the same time. The emphasis is on the icon ‘&’ as we want it. We are now ready to add our identity across the social media landscape.
  10. 10. + CREATING THE BRAND: DEVELOP IDENTIFYING ELEMENT A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES The slogan describing the project is added. It will move around with the design. We are now ready to add our consistent identity across the social media landscape.
  11. 11. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: FACEBOOK PAGE A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES Even with an extra element, my photo and liberal placement of type, the identity still holds its integrity and is recognizable.
  12. 12. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: TWITTER A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES Even with an extra element, my photo fits right in. The identity again holds its integrity and is recognizable.
  13. 13. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: GOOGLE+ A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES A bit more complex than other social media templates, this Google+ page still works within our given parameters.
  14. 14. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: ABOUT.ME A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES Another complex design, this about.me profile still works using their template.
  15. 15. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: TUMBLR A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES The Tumblr template imposes certain limitation but the brand still holds together.
  16. 16. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: THE ART & BYTES DAILY (from RebelMouse) A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES The format for the RebelMouse header is has another unique set of dimensions yet the identity still holds together with all the essential elements in tact.
  17. 17. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: ART & BYTES on PINTEREST A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES With nothing more than the visual element of the ‘&’ symbol, it is clear that this is ART & BYTES on Pinterest .
  18. 18. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: The ART & BYTES Blogsite A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES This is an easy one to identify because all the elements are present. It is a bit busier than the others. But again, one knows what it is.
  19. 19. + A CONSISTENT IDENTITY: The FACEBOOK Icon A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D. GILBERT FOR ART & BYTES On all 58 pages that I have on Facebook, there is one element that stays constant and stands alone needing no explanation. It is the ‘&’ that means ‘ART & BYTES’.
  20. 20. + BRANDING PRESENTATION: AFTERWORD A BRANDING PRESENTATION BY ALISON D.
