In 2011 Maythe director ofVenta regionalpark AndriusAlmanis invitedus to arrangeand exploreAkmene ancientJews cemetery.
In expedition participated these Akmenegymnasium students(10th Form): VidmanteAugustinaite, Aureja Novogreckyte, DariusAdomaitis, Dovydas Borusevicius, KarolinaBoruseviciute, Gintare Butaviciute, GintaKasiliauskaite, Ieva Majauskaite, Paulius Rimkus,Milda Skiparyte, Airidas Stasiulis, MantasStoncelis, Raimonda Stoncelyte, Iveta Zvegaite.Students of 8th Form: Zenonas Norkus, GvidasGrigalaitis, Markas Jonuitis.
Expedition Ten- formers had been working for threedays, then seventh – formers and ninth –formers. We cleaned up all gravestonemonuments from moss, counted andphotographed it . Now we are searching fora person who could read those inscriptionson the gravestones.
During theexpedition wecounted 125gravestonemonuments, themajority of whichare made fromashlar – 76, fromgrind stone- -only16- theseinscriptions arevisible and clear.
We also found 20 tumbledmonuments, still 13 were broken and hurt.
The majority ofmonuments areturned to thewest side – 79and 13 – to theeast.
The first day wepaintedinscriptions, madephotos and cleanedthem off again.
