  • SOCIAL NETWORKING BY ALAN EVANS TWITTER - FACEBOOK – MYSPACE – SLIDESHARE - NING Why write anything about what you are doing? Who would read this stuff? What is the point? What does this mean for your business or your cause. It took on and whipped SIMON COWELL (PEOPLE POWER). Petitions, polls, internet campaigns have been overwhelmingly powerful and successful. SO WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT? It keeps the public informed. It is for friends and family to communicate. It is to share updates, inform, converse, drive traffic to your website. It is a free account where you can follow people. Everything they say shows up on your screen. You follow them, they follow you, it is an endless chain of communication. For Marketing you need a good twitter name @sanclertimes You need a profile, name, details, biography, who are you, photo, logo your website. You then engage networks with people, inform people, find people you want to follow by subject or business or hobby areas. Your interests, e.g. tourism, photography, earth shifting machines, education. You can use it on any mobile device. Tweets increase traffic to your website. Update people with your special offers, your marketing, thank people, invite people. World wide events are being communicated before major news networks get there. Film on social networking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIFYPQjYhv8 Film on social networking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMcfrLYDm2U MY DOCUMENTS ON SLIDESHARE Within minutes of uploading documents on Slideshare they have been viewed by the public. They get shared, embedded in websites and talked about. The Sancler Times has had more views on Slideshare in 3 months than it has for all the editions for the last year put together. Who would be interested in what you write? I uploaded a bus time table for St. Clears and within minutes it had been viewed 22 times. Within minutes of posting a calendar I shot for Help For Heroes, It received a hit every minute. This prompted a major online network to email me and congratulate me on achieving such popularity in such a short space of time. The result for me was that it drove more traffic to my website and that means more business. Hi Alan, Here's your contract. Can you sign and return by post? Many thanks, Peter Peter Lawson _Picture Editor Which? _2 Marylebone Road _London _NW1 4DF Tel - 020 7770 7859
  • MY SLIDESHARE REPORT FOR THREE MONTHS In 2009, you uploaded 57 presentations and got: • 5006 views • 88 average views per presentation • 2 favorites • 4 followers Your most popular presentation was: Sancler Times Issue 22 - 230 views My films on Youtube have been watched thousands of times. One film has had over 8,500 views. That is seven times the population of St. Clears. http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?pi=0&ps=20&sf=viewcount&sa=0&dm=1 HOW DO YOU GET TO NUMBER ONE IN THE RANKINGS? My business is relatively new yet it is at the top of the Google rankings. The Sancler Times website is also very new and has been receiving thousands of hits. People from around the world are looking at St Clears and sharing the information. I get requests for business from London based companies whereas I get hardly any local business. Post and distribute job listings to find the best talent for your company TWITTER FOR BUSINESS Every day, millions of people use Twitter to create, discover and share ideas with others. Now, people are turning to Twitter as an effective way to reach out to businesses, too. From local stores to big brands, and from brick-and-mortar to internet-based or service sector, people are finding great value in the connections they make with businesses on Twitter. When people working in the Empire State Building twittered that they were craving ice cream delivery, New York local chain Tasti D Lite was there to listen and meet their need. When electronics buyers look for good deals, the Dell Outlet Twitter account helps them save money with exclusive coupons. When Houston's coffee drinkers decide where to get their daily dose, many choose Coffee Groundz, which lets them order via Twitter. Read on to learn what Twitter is and to get detailed examples of how companies are using it. On these pages, we’ll also reveal how Twitter can help your business right now. So what does Twitter do for businesses? Twitter is a communication platform that helps businesses stay connected to their customers. As a business, you can use it to quickly share information with people interested in your company, gather real-time market intelligence and feedback, and build relationships with customers, partners and other people who care about your company. As an individual user, you can use Twitter to tell a company (or anyone else) that you've had a great—or disappointing—experience with their business, offer product ideas, and learn about great offers. So how does it work? Twitter lets you write and read messages of up to 140 characters, or the very length of this sentence, including all punctuation and spaces. The messages are public and you decide what sort of messages you want to receive—Twitter being a recipient driven information network. In addition, you can send and receive Twitter messages, or tweets, equally well from your desktop or your mobile phone. When you combine messages that are quick to write, easy to read, public, controlled by the recipient and exchangeable anywhere, you’ve got a powerful, real-time way to communicate. And
  • real-time communication is turning out to be ground-breaking for users and businesses alike. SPECIAL OFFER - TEA AND A WELSHCAKE 50p FROM 11 TIL MIDDAY @craftecentre Gets shared with all your followers, they share with others, they turn up, they buy. GOING TO TOWN AT 10 IF ANYONE NEEDS A LIFT RETURNING AT 2 @marystewart Shared with people you follow or in your group. They share, reply, organize and meet up.
  • CASE STUDY - THE SANCLER TIMES WEBSITE Created three months ago www.sanclertimes.com on a budget of £500 I created sections for the community and created a platform for the community to discuss issues within the community. There are photo galleries, Films, Opportunities to advertise and promote organizations, business and events. I linked the site to Twitter and Facebook and Slidehare. My Tweets appear on Twitter and are picked up and shared by my followers and their followers and so on. My Facebook comments follow the same process. I created a private group page on Slideshare for team members to discuss the creation of the Sancler times. The public can access any documents I upload if I enable it. They can also download the documents. Bus Timetable, Library opening Hours, etc. They can also have the documents read to them if they are visually impaired. I connected the site to Skype so that anyone can Skype me and have a chat. This is free and if I choose to I can see them as well as hear them. I can also share my computer screen. They can reciprocate if they wish. I then linked the website to an American network for Welsh ex pats. Within the three months the site has been accessed by someone in almost every country in the world. I have had conversations online with people in America, Romania, Patagonia, London, Ireland, Morocco and Sweden. Imagine the possibilities for tourism, business, friendships. Our children are learning it but not through schools. School have refused to allow children to freely access this digital media which will be the main source of employment within the next decade. There are jobs they must prepare for now which do not even exist yet. I want to show you a short film about what children think of this.
